BB86 bottom bracket screech
My brand new Fuji Roubaix 1.1 bottom bracket is a huge disappointment. On rides over about 10 miles it would creak, always at the same point in the pedal stroke. Today it did it again for about 5 miles an then started screeching for the full 360° of pedal stroke. I stopped and called for a ride as it wasn't getting any better and to be honest, embarrassing to ride. I haven't dug into it yet to see what's up, but I am thinking a bearing has bit the dust. Any pointers from the group on diagnosing this?

Fixed it. The spindle bolt was way too tight and there is a shim between the chain rings and bb bearing that must have been pinched and all the lube squeezed out. Shot some Teflon drilube stuff I have back there and retorqued the spindle bolt. All quiet now.

First rule out the regular stuff............pedals, shoes cleat on shoes, etc.
Assuming still the BB, try tightening it first. I found my BB30 on my Evo loose just slightly loose after 9 months of riding and that was *after* LBS had told me it was loose after 30 days from new. (Was it me or did they not have it tight enough on assembly?)
Anywho, I've noticed it's even stopped all noise except for a very slight tick at 6 o'clock on my drive side crank and still it's quiet 90% of the time so I haven't bothered digging into it just yet.
I'm not sure if you need a specific wrench for BB86 (Just a hex key on my BB30) but others will chime in.

Mine was a hex key as well. It was so tight I had to use a box end wrench on the end of the hex key ti use it as a breaker bar. The torque spec is only 45 newton's for Petes sake!

Update, I tried again to go on a longer ride today and the same flipping thing happened. Had to call for a ride again. This time I took the bike back to Performance (2 hrs away) and had them look at it. Guess what? No grease anywhere on the spindle except where the non-drive side crank arm connects. The mechanic kept asking me if this was a new bike, LOL! I told him it was only a few weeks old. Anyway, he gooped it up proper and I await another go at a long ride to see if it is indeed fixed. If not, I will be shopping for a new crankset and BB.
