Dealing with some rust on a fork
I'm rebuilding my 1982 Trek 720. I dealt with the minor rust/cosmetic issues on the frame (and used frame saver for the inside) but I'm not quite sure what to do with the fork. It's in great shape but some rust is starting on the threaded portion.
What's the best way to deal with or neutralize that?

Looks like a British product and not easy to find in the States though.

There are several Vactan-like products which use the rust to form a protective coating instead of just removing it. Loctite rust converter is one example; they all work in roughly the same way.

I think it's good to be reminded of how to deal with rust now and again: the mortal enemy of the vintage bike.

. Thanks for the excellent advice from both of you. I'm getting to build the bike up and obviously wanted to deal with the rust before installing the headset.
