TEKTRO USA

malcala622, That's a really generous offer. However, I can only use a clamp-on. Thanks anyway.

cyclotoine, Great if you do have a 7400 clamp-on FD. Thanks in advance for checking.

Needed for a Gitane TdF project:

One pair Mafac brake levers

At least one adjusting barrel for above levers

One pair French-thread pedals--not particular as long as they're in decent condition

Two Simplex top-tube cable clips to go with the one orphan clip now in my possession

LATER EDIT: Also a pair of Suntour barcons. Not original spec to the bike, but then I'm not going to use the original ass-destroying plastic saddle, either.

Have: assorted items of value.

I know you can buy them, obviously. I was asking if anyone happened to have any that I could trade for, hence my post here in the ISO/trade thread.

unworthy1 08-13-16 11:10 AM

I probably have the AmerClas seat post but need to check that it's 27.2 (probably is) IIRC it's sliver with a black cradle but will confirm all by PM.

That would be great. Thanks in advance for checking. Yes, silver/alloy with black cradle is the one I'm after.

I have one as well if option above doesn't pan out.

Thanks Spaghetti Legs. I'll let you know either way.

Was there ever a 16-26 five-speed freewheel made?

Something like a 16-18-20-23-26? Maybe Pastor Bob will weigh in on this, but I don't think it would be hard to assemble a Suntour Perfect in that configuration (that's the only freewheel I have any experience customizing). The only hard part would be finding the beveled spacer you'd need to use under the 16-tooth cog to keep the chain from hanging up when shifting to the next largest one. I had a local machine shop make me a few of them a while back--just a simple matter of cutting a 45-degree angle on the outer edges of some flat spacers-- but I think I may have used them all by now.

mountaindave 08-14-16 06:46 AM

His name was the first that popped into my mind too. I suppose it would have to be custom, I like 16-18-20-22-26 best myself. I have found that bigger jumps in the low end combined with tighter gearing in the middle and high end are very comfortable for me and my legs. Works well with a compact double.

Are you sure you want those? To tap out a crankset is dead easy.

Also, I might have 2 Huret top tube clips if you want to stay French but can't find Simplex.

I've not seen one, but it's possible to assemble one if you have the right cogs on hand. Junior racers used to be limited to a 15T minimum size small cog.

Speaking of Jr Men's....my '77 Colnago was built and rode by a teen who set a Michigan record and championship in '78 before putting away until I restored it. Still has the Suntour 15-21 on it. It is NOT my hillclimb bike. :)

I found it, it's NOS/NIB and a 350mm long model, I'll PM you.

EDIT: Gaucho777 has declined this American Classic seat post, so for anybody who wants one: it's available!
Pics will come later.

Pre War Schwinn

Looking for a 38-41 Schwinn DX frame. I would also consider a later straight bar frame. Have lots of goodies for trade.
Cheers,
Chris

If you're not going to tap the crank arms I have a pair of old Lyotard quill pedals and I also have a set of bar-cons that are missing the original lock nuts. PM me if these would do.

I think I have a 7402 RD but it probably has a few scuffs. Probably have the 53/39 rings also but I'd have to check on condition. I know I have 7410 FD's but not sure about 7400. I'll try to look in the next few days.

I realize that re-tapping a crank is very different from sawing off a derailleur hanger. But for whatever reason, I still don't like to make irreversible changes to original parts for the sake of convenience. If French pedals were hard to come by I would no doubt change my tune, but since they're not I have been able to indulge my original-threading obsession. We all have our foibles, right?

Thanks for the offer of the Huret clips--I'll send you a PM if I decide to take you up on it.
