MICROSHIFT SB-R472 Double 2X7

I know this was reviewed a couple years back, but I'm interested in upgrading my Ciocc. Currently, have Shimano 105 , 7 speed downtube shifters. I know Shimano makes the Tourney 7 speed STI. I'm looking at the cost factor, here.

Microshifters $50, vs. Shiamno $78. And yes, I'm aware cables are not included with the MS shifters, as I have cabling leftover from other projects. I know I will need " Shimano CS50 Housing Stops for 1-1/8 Down Tube".

So, who is using the MS 7 speed shifters and how have they been performing ? I'm using a current Shimano 105, 9 speed RD, with HG (7 Spd) cassettes, with early 7 , 105 down tube shifters. You see why I want to make this upgrade, but keeping costs down.

Thank you all, KB.

While I can't comment on the 7 speed microShift integrated shifter/brake levers, I can tell you that I am more than pleased with my 2X9 speed Nashbar/microShift ones. They are excellent and I can compare them to the Shimano 105 8 speed SIS shifters and Campagnolo Chorus 10 speed Ergos that I have also used extensively.

IMO, I prefer how the microShift units work over the Shimano and Campagnolo ones. Each has advantages and disadvantages, but for me, the microsShift ones are my preferred brifters. Specifically, I like the shifting "action" and ease of use over the two other ones.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the info. I see that they have 2 paddles under the lever. How to they function ? I'm guessing one for up shift and one for down. ?? KB

Bikes: Seriously downsizing.

That is indeed how they work.
I currently have two sets of these out in the barn (both sold as SB-R273s, but that's another tale) awaiting a project. Seem to be nicely made, and click with authority.
I do have a set of the Tourney on the Miele. I've run them for a few years now and they work just fine. The thumb lever isn't an issue with the style of riding I do.

Thanks for the info. I speed most of my time on the grips. So I'm not concerned about either style. I would like to jump to brifters , without a lot of out lay. So, looks like I'll try a set. KB
