This is my 85-86 Fisher Montare. Since this photo I added a NOS 14-30 shimano 6208 freewheel, a better set of the suntour XC2 pedals, a hite-rite, and cover for the roller ram brake. I also added a period correct shimano quick release spline to the front wheel. I'm looking for NOS BL-M700 brake levers since the anodization is faded and the correct seat. I hope to get it close to 100% condition some day.

Regarding your question about drop bars.. not sure about the conversion.. honestly if the stem fits a drop bar i'd like to use it on the Jamis I'm building up. I may just go with a flat bar and bar ends. I do plan on a single speed conversion though.. I was on the fence about picking this one up until i saw the horizontal drops
Here's another Ascent EX with purple haze.. this looks like it's been Frankensteined a bit tho

I was wondering about that, but over on Retrobikes someone else has a similar Ascent EX.. I think at some point in 1988 they must have upgraded the Ascent EX to be mostly Deore. The fact that there is a Deore decal on the seat tube makes me think there was some kind of deal made with WSI and Shimano.. maybe Shimano gave them a deal since in 1989 they were set to introduce Deore II. The hubs are still Exage, and some other stuff still matches the catalog like the headset. There's barely any difference though.. I wonder what the difference in retail prices between the Apex and Ascent EX were

Purple Haze + Tange Double Butted + Made in Japan = SWEET X 3
I am starting to collect in my mind how many times I have heard/seen a bike that does not exactly match what the manufacturer has in their catologes. I wonder if that is a thread somewhere on here ?

My most recent acquisition is the 1989 Panasonic MC-5500. Bought it for my wife but she's just not that into it so it is on the block.

Ummm.... who says suspension bikes aren't "vintage" enough?
FTR not my bike, or I wouldn't be selling it. I would have killed my own mother for one of these when I was a kid, I got the crappy Huffy Thunder Road instead.

1991 Gary Fisher Procaliber in team colors I just picked up. Should be a fun build. If anyone has an original fork, PM me please.

1984? Schwinn Mirada, mostly original, swapped Wellgo pedals for SunTour XC-II's, newer tires, all else OG as far as I can tell.

Yesterday afternoon I picked up what I think is going to be my deal of the year at a police auction, a 1991 Schwinn Paramount Series 70 PDG that is almost all original for $30. The bike is full XT 7spd & has the stock Ritchey seat post, the only non original parts are the tires, seat & bars ( Nashbar 1.5 slicks, Schwinn cruiser seat & Club Roost Go Fast bars). The frame & paint are in fantastic shape with no dents or rust that I can see, the components just need a clean & polish with just a little rust on the FD cage & some of the hardware. It is going to need a complete service, cables, brake pads & chain all of which I have in my bins already. I am hoping to get some before pictures in the next few days ( damn rain!) but I have a link of what it looks like for now.

I also picked up a 1962 Schwinn Typhoon that's not in bad shape with the Paramount.

This is my chromed Taiyanese MTB , bought in France,30 years ago , in a supermerket named "euromarché".....I don't know the builder, but I can say that the bike is really strong.....and heavy !
Frame is all CRMO chromed, the derailleurs "DNP CLIMBER" (rear and front) are strongs and efficients, so the brakes "VANGUARD", crankset is made with stainless steel and alloy, and it has 18 speeds .
In spite of the name, it is not a real climber .....because it is too heavy (35 lbs)

Hey andyfloyd, did your PDG 50 come with that Rolls saddle? Nice score if it did! I've bought a couple bikes just for their Rolls saddles, still one of my favorites for sure! I had a 50 Series too, I always had to answer questions or comments about the "bent" chainstays, all the manufacturers were looking for the secret weapon back then... now I'm getting all misty and nostalgic. Bastards!

I like your PDG70. Looks like its going to need some restoring. Someone left that bike out in the rain for a long time. Look at all the rust all over that poor bike. I have taken worse and turned it into something beautiful so I know you can get her back to former glory. My PDG50 looked like literally brand new when I got it, all I had to do was wax the frame....literally the bike needed nothing at all.

Finally got this together. A nice big mountain-touring rig with road-like geometry. Info on yokotas is scant, but I think I got it pretty close to OG status (save this saddle and the dia compe rear brake-- if anyone has a single deer head cantilever please let me know!). If anyone has info on Yokotas from this period (85 or 86 I'd bet?), I'd love to hear. All the info I can find is about their early-90s bikes.
Next is the Cimarron.

I have absolutely no affiliation- but there's a Mongoose ATB on the auction site that has two of my favorite characteristics- chrome and biplane fork.
