I don't know if this is a good find or not, but Schwinn fans can decide for themselves:

There was a nos, in the box Miyata Triplecross, wait, make that TWO noss, in the box 1990 Miyata Triplecrosses on Ebay, one blue one green, and I didn't get either. That's literally my dream bike and in the end I just dont have enough $$ right now. The blue went for $271, the green for $255.

I'm so bummed.

The guy who won the clue Miyata comes here and puts on a show, pretending he didn't get his bike on eBay. What do you guys think is going on?

It can be found here on Craigslist.

It's mine and I hate to part with it, but it's just enough too big that I could never get totally comfortable on it. I'd rather it goes to a good home than some random person from CL, so let me know you're from BF if you contact me.

I saw this ad and called the guy immediately. I have a feeling that this is Reynolds 531 and a beautiful bike. The guy said it has Shimano 600 components. Tried to tak him into holding the bike for me for more money but he said "First Come to his place, First Serve" I'd just got back from lunch when I say it.

At that price and stated urgency, I'd fear it was hot. Hopefully not. Good luck.

Maybe, but my guess is no.

With CL (ESPECIALLY in the SF Bay Area) you deal with a lot of flakes. I've had many, many folks send me emails saying they'll take an advertised bike FOR SURE if I'll just hold it a day or two, only to have them vaporize into thin air after I've told several people the bike was already sold (interestingly enough, the vast majority of the flakes seem to be either from SF proper or Berkeley).

When I sell on CL, I don't hold 'em for anyone, unless they say they're "on the way".

Conversely, when buying on CL, I've met many foks that are just either cleaning out their garage or else cleaning out the houses of deceased relatives. Usually, they want the stuff gone, and gone NOW. They don't want to manage an appointment calendar...... :)

Then again, maybe it's stolen. That's it.......ummmmm.....it's MINE! That's the ticket......It was taken from my garage just 2 days ago....yeah........:D

Lugged steel Trek 950 mountain bike:

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/bik/194762529.html

Don't know if this really qualifies as classic or vintage, but I am really coming to appreciate the old all-rigid MTBs. Great lines, much more like a road or touring bike than a modern mtb with ugly (to my eye) sloped top tubes and suspension.

Wonder if it's flashbacks from the 70's (if you know what I mean) :D Anyways that bike is gone from the listings. I knew it. I just missed a nice mixte in Palo Alto for $20. :(

I actually posted the Bianchi in the Numbskull thread because of the claim of weighing less than 8 pounds... Although it does look like a nice bike. ;)

Great, it'll probably be too heavy for my roof racks then.

Yup. Depending on the final price, I think it might be a good buy just for the frame. Fixie conversion, perhaps?

That is quite a nice bike as it sits. IMO it would be a shame to go fixie on it. Cyclone was often considered more desirable as it was usually lighter but shifted as well as if not better than Superbe. But then one might be able to sell the components and recoup the cost of the frame.

caloso 08-18-06 11:09 AM

Good to know, CV-6. Thanks. I've put it on my watchlist.

I don't think it's a full-reynolds frame, as he implies
