Serotta Tour De France 7-11 Huffy

Cool bike, but the guy is nuts to want $1800 for it I think.

1961 Paramount

The sad thing is that it has stem shifters and the frame looks like it had a kickstand on it.

Hell I'd buy it at that price if were my size (and so would Lofter I'm betting).

-snip-

I got the bike today and it is in bad shape. Fedex bent the front fork. The frame though is in decent shape, but almost everything chrome is rusted. The Brooks B17 is useless. It is all cracked and the leather has ripped near the rivets. I won't have any time for awhile to try and see how well I can clean it up.

I sent an email to the seller about the insurance. So we will see what they say about that, and what Fed ex says. The packing was bad especially for $60.

It's a Dura Ace bike. I didn't know that Serotta made bikes for Huffy. Nice looker.

ok, no more posting when taking pain meds. . . .

Serotta made the 7/11 team bikes, labeled huffy with the exception of
the Serotta on chainstay and the "S" in the brake bridge and fork crown.
There was also a Murray made by Serotta I think for the 84 Olympics?

I'll take that car behind the Serotta Huffy for $1600 though.

BobHufford 08-09-06 01:50 PM

It think it was Mike Melton that built the '84 Olympic Huffys and Serotta that built the 7/11 Team Huffy and Murrays. Of course, I take a lot of migraine meds myself, so I might be misremembering ...

If those cheeks at the bottom of the link come with it, it's well worth the price.

I guess I'm not the only one that thinks that C-Record hubs are beautiful.

to quote the ss/fixie crowd.

meh, I wish c record wasn't as cache as it has become.
Overpriced if you ask me, even with the lambda rims. I might be
tempted to say the price is ok if they had NOS Clement seta silks
glued on.

frowned upon here. . . dunno why.

not sure if this is a good deal or not.

bikemore 08-11-06 06:22 AM

Price little steep I think, but a nice looking bike.

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bik/192677704.html

gorgeous italian road bike, signature (pantographed) OLMO frame, light blue, almost all original campagnolo parts (except the pedals). barely ridden, minimal wear and tear. frame size is 19" or so - would probably fit a rider between 5'4" and 5'8". 12 smooth and speedy speeds. asking $850, somewhat negotiable. ohhh just look at those lugs. so italian, almost too much.

p.s. the toe-clips are no longer on the bike (as shown in the pics).
