I sold a powdercoated Huffy for $260. Of course the frame went free. The parts on it covered the cost easily.

Kenda Karma tires.
New grips.
New handlebars.
New stem.
new cables.
FSA five hole chainring.
TH Industries BB, with 3 piece cranks,
New Cassette.
ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC......

Not sure what it is with this seller. They can't all be the "Lightest"...

You aren't supposed to isolate the term. For all of his listings, one is the lightest Ross 12 speed, one is the lightest Fuji 12 speed etc...

I didn't look in the individual ads, but I am assuming that's what the seller meant. :D

lyeinyoureye 09-11-06 01:14 PM

I'm guessing he has one of each, and in that case, they're also the heaviest, prettiest, and bestest or worstest. ;)

You should have looked. In many/most cases he doesn't even know what model he's selling. And in the case of one bike in his Completed Listings, he doesn't even know the make of the Belgium made bike. How could he possibly know if it was the lightest model if he doesn't even know the make?

My point is his auctions are misleading.

Oh boy, check this out? It couldn't have topped $100 new? And who would be sacrificing, the seller, or buyer?

Yeah, but these bikes have 'luggs', which are vastly superior to regular lugs. And one has 'Simplex derailurs (like campagnolo)', and you just can't underestimate the value of that....

Those seats were very cool in their day. The first attempt at avoiding saddle-caused discomfort and infertility problems.

Poppycock! (Pardon the pun) Whoever pioneered the hammock-style leather saddle (e.g. Brooks), has the right to claim spot #1.

How about Giving Me a better picture so I can decide not to buy it? $100 to fix a flat tire? I'm already fully trained to do that. Maybe he will hire me and we can split the profits 50/50. He can find the work and I'll fix the flats. I'll even supply my own pump and tube patches.

My brother lives in Sac and he has sold some bikes for a profit there. Maybe that is just a Giving market?

Except for the seat bolt clamp, it makes perfect sense.... From the old Burl Ives song from the Christmas special... Silver and Gold...

Add in the two other traditional Christmas colors, Red and Green...

I think this is Santa Claus's bike. :D

10 SPD HIGH BREAD by Cycle Citane - $110 (Citane????)

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/bik/207463887.html

The price is a little steep for a cheap, entry level Gitane, but since it is "HIGH BREAD" it must be special. Do you think they used special yeast?

mswantak 09-14-06 09:56 PM

I think they're similar to pot brownies.

Man, that bike looks an awful lot like my early 90's Specialized Allez, right down to the Biopace chain ring. The lugs are identical (although not exactly distinctive). If you could see the top of the seat stays that would be the giveaway, because the Specialized has those S's on the lugs. I think later ones didn't have the S's but this looks the same as mine.
