Another in the vein of verbose sellers:

https://boston.craigslist.org/bik/148217550.html

Isn't it against the law to sell children on Craig's list?

Bikes: '75 Schwinn Paramount P-10, '86 Ritchey Commando, '87 Schwinn Cimarron, '91 Trek 990, '87 Schwinn High Sierra, '73 Schwinn Super Sport, '4? Schwinn New World, '76 Swing Bike.

Not quite right "Schwinn" Swing Bike

I don't think I remember a NOS bike in a box going for much over $1500. This bike is a harlot with very few original parts left. Where did they come up with that starting bid? (or the affiliation with Schwinn for that matter ...)

Neither will I. Thank god. It's a $20 Huffy if I ever saw one.

Speaking about cheap bikes, would you believe I got $75 for this Free Spirit?:

I did the impossible with that thing - I built it up as a frameset with many decent components (I only wish I had replaced the original brake calipers, better known as $hit). The end result was one hell of a nice riding/performing "cheap" bike though. With better calipers, it would have been a very nice machine.

I know, I know; You had to do it -- the dumpster was already full, right?

Haha, no. My parts bins were overflowing with too much stuff, and this was the only spare frame on hand that would accept those alloy 559s. Worked out very well in the end anyway.

What I'd love to toss in the dumpster is the junkpile that was left here yesterday by one of the local LBS owners. (SEE PIC). That's what you call a pile of rubbish. Even the AMF-Herc is pretty bad.

I had a considerable argument with this guy over his penny-pinching, "I don't give a F*** attitude" when pricing parts a while ago, and this is his way of trying to buy me back.

I'm not accepting them though. They'll sit on the side of my house and rot until he reclaims them, as far as I'm concerned. I don't have a pickup truck to dump them back at his shop with, and the bike rack I have on hand for Bike Doc Cycles Roadbike Rentals will not fit on either of my '78/79 Lincolns.

Take care,

-Kurt

Wow, check out what you get with this bike package:

https://boston.craigslist.org/bik/149057752.html

And what does one do with a Hamlet, anyway, other than agonize over whether or not to ride that day?

Probably a Vista Esquire with a copy of Shakespeare's Hamlet.

If you're not looking for a hipster bike, you can save some money and get one just like it for $25.

Possibly the best touring bike ever?

* Norwegian!
* Vintage!
* 1 more gear than needed (and quotes bike GURU Sheldon Brown on this, no less!)!
* Knurled rims for better stopping power!
* Aluminum handle on the "set" tube!

You may have to contact hipster dj Cims or all of the cool people he knows at the Arrow Bar.

I'll do you one better Bob - how would you like a "show-piece" 1940 Schwinn Autocycle, for $7,000, no picture included?

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/clt/149578504.html

Oh, don't forget, make your best offer on the original owner too.

Okay... $7000 is nothing compared to the guy that was selling the original mountain bike that he invented in 1966 for $10,000. Does anyone remember this guy??? Turns out it was a rusty Varsity that he put ape-hangers on. He then backed up the authenticity of this gem by citing a website where he nominated himself for the mountain bike hall of fame. Check it out: https://www.mtnbikehalloffame.com/nom...age=99&mID=154

Below is the pic the guy used on eBane with a starting price of $10K!

Looks like what I did with my Columbia cruiser around the same time. Except my Columbia had Ram's Horn bars, so it was definitely better than this guy's job, and I was younger, too boot. So I guess that means I might have invented the mountain bike...

Now I really wonder what I did with that old Columbia. It's got to be around somewhere...

File this one under excessive verbosity, as well as punctuation challenged:
