I looked at what appears to be the same model bike about a year ago. I think the frame was Columbus Aelle. It was pretty light as I remember.

This is an odd one! Any Guesses? 1949 stamped on the AW shell and KYAT on the chainwheel.

With stem mounted shifters and stamped dropouts, it looks slightly above entry-level and "Criterium" in name only. Looks like it will be a major project needing chain, cables, probably tires, maybe more. If it was me I wouldn't pay more than $30 for it, and only if it fit really well. If you just plan to flip it, you'll never get your money out of it.

I'm going to double-post this to the main forum, cause I think it poses an interesting issue regarding fire damage to brazed joints: he says it's straight and all the braze-ons are intact, but if it got hot enough to melt aluminum handlebars and cranks, could the joints be damaged? Potential death-trap, or ready-to-sandblast and powdercoat Pinarello bargain? You decide...

That's just odd. Seller doesn't even give frame sizes. Some rather scant descriptions for a Paramount...from a seller that seems to have collected them? Was a CR Vintage ride event taken hostage recently?

He or she is very unclear about if this is local pickup only, or if shipping is really free. A Paramount recently went for better than $1500 on Ebay with local pickup only in Chicago. It was a large frame size and that sure looks like a dent in the top tube.

Who's the bigger numbskull, the dad who's "trying to clear out some old bikes" or the son who leaves a vintage Eddy lying around his parents' garage rather than riding it?

Yes and no...

"I made a big mistake. In an effort to clean out some old bikes I posted this ad without talking to my son, John. With the first caller to John's cell phone he just about flipped - one that I posted it without talking to him first (it's his bike), and second that I pulled the price out of the air. Please consider it withdrawn from the market. Not only is John mad at me, but also my wife. Please don't call anymore!

Again, I'm very sorry for the confusion! Tom"
