Thanks for the tip. Also, I see you're right across the river from me!

For my Tour de France: I need a 48t Stronglight 93 chainring. If not available, will accept 47 or 49.

Hi guys, I'm new here and I'm looking for an older road bike to commute on and go on an occasional weekend ride, I'm tired of crappy walmart bikes, I don't have too much money to spend, as I'm just a college student, so I know this is a bit of a stretch. I'm about 6'1 and if anyone has anything in my size I'm sure we could negotiate something out. Thanks..

EDIT: I live in Davis, and attend UCD

You may want to mention where you're from since a commuting level bike (versus highly collectible) may not be as good of a deal if shipping is involved.

Davis, California. Highest ratio of bikes per person in the USA...last I heard anyway.

Check the local PD as they have one, if not two, bike auctions every year.

Cynikal 03-21-08 02:28 PM

The Davis auction sucks for the average joe. I wouldn't bother. I would check out the Bike Church on campus or if you can get into Sacramento, check out the Bicycle Kitchen at www.sacbikekitchen.org .

DIA Comp Black hoods...

ISO non-areo DIA Comp black hoods for my 80's Univega (the brakes have the cable coming from the top and have drilled out handles).

Thanks,
Travis...

If you're looking for fit, Cane Creek are perfect (They took over Dia Compe), and can be ordered through just about any LBS. The new logo is not period correct though.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, I've already tried the bike church to no avail, the guy I asked for help flipped out and told me to get something off Clist and come back. Anway, someone offered me an older lotus race bike, it has look pedals, suntour components, and is about my size..
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/7...1081730pe7.jpg
can anyone ID the components?

Antipodes 03-21-08 11:35 PM

Cranks are Shimano 600EX (A.K.A. "Arabesque"), pedals I think are the old Look style, derailleurs I can't tell...

cyclotoine 03-21-08 11:37 PM

Front derailleur looks like shimano 600 tri-colour. The RD looks like suntour VX-GT or some variation.

AHemp 03-21-08 11:57 PM

I agree on the front derailleur. No idea about the back, but it doesn't look like a Shimano.

asuh88 03-22-08 12:38 AM

Now, my only question is, is this bike worth 100$?

cyclotoine 03-22-08 01:21 AM

If it's in good rideable shape with alloy wheels then yeah. BTW this wasn't really the thread to post this in.

Cyclotoine is right on the rea Suntour VX-GT. What gives it away is the size of the cogs on the freewheel. I have several of these. One of Suntour's better rear Derailleur.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I've been looking for classic road bike in Houston area. I don't want to spend a lot since I'm only a student. I've been looking on craigslist but no luck. I never own a road bike before, I only ride mountain bike, but my size is about 53 cm. Please let me know if you have bike for sale in houston area. Thanks

USAZorro 03-22-08 08:04 PM

You might want to send a PM to bikedued. He's in the Houston area, and he seems to turn up quite a few bicycles. You don't ride the same size bikes he does, so maybe he wouldn't mind sending you a tip if he finds something. ;)

Thanks for advice, I'll pm bikedued.

Looking for a 27" 36 hole Sun Mistral clincher rim- hopefully in the satin finish as I believe they also came polished

Mhendricks 03-24-08 10:16 AM

Looking for yellow SIS shifter cable housing.

JunkYardBike 03-24-08 10:29 AM

Looking for a complete set (4) brake pad holders for these Kool Stop C89 pads. They are designed for pre-2000 Campy 8 and 9 speed brake pad holders, or Dura Ace 7401 holders. I'll take either.

Also willing to trade parts in whatever combination to get some Kool Stops on my ride. See here.

soma5 03-24-08 02:49 PM

I'm in need of Look cleat adapter plates for Carnac Lemond shoes with the UCS1 sole. Used/old is OK, as long as they work.

WTB: Sugino Super Mighty crank, left (non-drive) arm only. 170mm. Seeking one in the best condition possible (this is to match an unused, take-off right side crank), but any used, spare Sugino SM arm you might have kicking around would work. Unsure of vintage, but this one has the crown with S logo near the BB, and "Super Mighty" cast into the deboss on the arm.

There should be a date code, which can be referenced at vintage-trek.com under "component dates". I think these date to the late 70s and early 80s, if it is the one with the lightened spider arms (i.e. holes right through), be sure to file the sharp spider/arm interface area so prevent crack from arising. I've had to do some mighty filing to get down to where there is no more crack on early 70s sugino mighty cranks.
