I wholeheartedly recommend spending the cash on tiagra brifters for 9 speed. they're nice and solid. Sora is 8 speed which is nice but they are oh so cheep and that tiny little sliver of a thumb shifter sucks (if only it were steel if could be modified by attaching a larger campy style paddle. I will take 8 speed bar ends (look for the old ultegra) anyday... they are hard to find now but the quality if unsurpassed by any current 8 speed brifter on the market. Not only that they will last you at least an extra decade over an 8 speed brifter (and dura-ace 8 speed is only compatible with a dura-ace derailleur and FYI dura-ace 8 speed shifters pull the same amount of cable as all shimano 9 speed which is why shimano sells 8/9 speed DURA-ACE 8 speed only barcons... to many people (even bike shops) will sell them as compatible with any 8 speed system.. THEY ARE NOT!

Looking at a derailleur it seems the outer link is riveted, versus bolted, to the cage. That being said, if your creative you may be able to remove the cage or possibly find a derailleur with a broken clamp, but considering the cost of a derailleur on the open market it may not be worth your time.

Dia-Compe NGC 982 cantilever brakes. Two pairs. Don't have to be in pristine condition.

I don't have the brakes themselves, but I do have a NIP set of braided XT brake cables, if you're looking for them.

ISO: Nice sport touring "beater" frame

Looking for something along the lines of a Specialized Sequoia, Miyata touring, Nishiki touring, etc. Definitely steel, definitely lugged, definitely 1" threaded steerer, prefer sidepulls. Something that was a mid to high end factory from in the mid 80's...strong preference for the Sequoia. Cosmetic condition unimportant as long as it has solid bones.

I need a 57 or 58cm top tube, prefer 57 or 58cm seat tube. I'm in suburban Philadelphia.

I'm looking for a tandem crankset for a Jack Taylor project... something with a square taper. Needs to be at least 175mm for both stoker and captain. My preference would be TA, Stronglight or Campy, but I would definitely consider Sugino, Shimano, SR, etc.

My Gios Torino Professional - RIP

I had an accident on my Gios this weekend. I walked away but, my bike didn't. Front fork was mangled and the down tube got bent.

I was very fond of that bike. I loved the look of Gios Blue. I am looking for a frame to build up with the the Campy parts off of the old frame.

Long shot - Does anybody have a line on a 60cm Blue ( It has got to be Gios Blue!) Gios Frame that would mend my broken heart.

WTB - Campy Nuovo Record Downtube shifters - Clamp-on. I'm not certain how much they changed over the years, but I'm looking for a set to match a '74 NR gruppo. I can pay cash or trade for a set of Suntour Barcon shifters.

Thanks!

I'm planning a longer tour this next summer and I'm looking for a sturdy, steel touring frame or complete bike. The ideal I have in mind is along the lines of the Miyata 610--high-quality steel, lugged, eyelets for racks and fenders, bosses for canti brakes, and potentially another bottle mount on the downtube.

I'd also consider something more current, but I'm leaning toward the '80s tourer as my model.

Complete bikes are also more than welcome.

Preferred dimensions are: 60-61cm seat tube c-t (~58-59cm c-c); 58cm top tube c-c.

Please post or pm with price and pictures if possible.

NEED: Small frame and fork, 50 to 53cm C-C top tube range. 80's lugged, high end steel, 700c, paint condition not important as long as the frame is sound. No rust or pitting. This will NOT be converted, but built with SR from the 80's and ridden.

Here's a long shot: I need just the ears, top clamp and bolts for a Campy 2-bolt seat post. I have lots of stuff to trade or name your price.

What quality? I salvaged the extremely rusty hardware off that Campag NR copy Zeus post that I had to wreck in order to extract from the Schwinn Voyageur II. It might fit the NR post.

Take care,

Just usable quality, Kurt. The post itself is darn ugly, but it is Campy! Let me know if it'll work.

Thanks,

Neal

54cm Tange 1. Plenty of parts to take off or keep as needed. May be cheaper in the long run, or just an option. That Romic is nice, and Noah Scape has an 87 Peugeot Triathlon over on the trade thread.
