Any ideas on an ID? Fd is dated 1983.

Thanks.

If the seat is original, see if theres anything imprinted on the underside from it's manufacturing.

looks like a nice concor saddle, a little rough. The frame is hard to tell looks nishiki continentalish... could be anything really, univega, or norco even... a pic of the drive side and some close ups of the BB, DOs, seat lug and head logs and fork crown would help.

Edit: the chrome is throwing me off, it looks like a hi-tensile frame to my eye reminiscent of the Kuwahara produced apollos. Definitely need more to go on here.

Here are a couple more pics...

I'll try to get some more info. It's not mine; belongs to a guy on another forum I hang out in, just trying to help him out with the ID.

Thanks again,
Steve

Really not much to go on here. The fork crown says hi tensile/medium steel. The chrome stays says at least a bit better than bottom of the barrel. The shifter and seat if original say it was decent enought that someone cared about it. Definitely 70s Japanese Manufacture, that is the best I can do, and serial number would help are well as knowing for sure what kind of drop outs it has.

Forged dropouts mean it's at least decent tubing, and that Stronglight 93 crankset would indicate higher end but it might not be original. What kind of derailleurs and shifters does it have...I can't make it out from the pics. Are the downtube shifters Shimano 600 arabesque (fancy little engravings)? Also, see if you can find a brand on the pedals...

This is the info he has gotten me so far:

Hubs - Rear - Shimano is all that is legible
- Front - No name
Cranks - says "Tourney" on non-drive side
Brakes/shifters/Front Derailure - Shimano 600. Everything
Rear Deraillure - Shimano CraneG5

I scoured the bike in search of a serial#, checked the bb 10 times, checked the head tubs, the lugs, everything, and i just cant find it.

The mish-mash of components is going to make it more difficult to ID...did you check the dropouts for a serial number?

I'm going to hijack this a little to deliver a mild rant that I hope will someday be instructive:
How to Photograph a Bike for Identification:
Take a full-body shot from the drive side, then don't take any more mid-range shots at all, concentrate on the details:
Headlugs/any headbadge holes
Seat cluster
Bottom Bracket, especially any markings that denote threading, also measure the width of the shell
Fork Crown
Dropouts/forkends
Any Serial Number(s) wherever they appear
Any Decals including Fragments
Less important in a case like this one are detail shots of the components, but sometimes they are crucial, too. Most of the time the full-body shot tells you all you need know about them.
That said this seems like a mid-grade Japanese bike as Cyclotoine/Braingel say, I'd guess mid-70s, that TRIPLE Stronglight is a nice crank but a red herring, methinks.

Unworthyone,

No problem on the hijack...

I actually agree with you, but keep in mind I didn't take the pics. The guy who took them is a trials rider and this is his first road bike...he'd just like to know what it is and I figured posting the pics over here might get him some help with the ID.

It looks like there's a Specialized logo on the seat tube. I suppose there's little chance that it's original.

That;s what I thought at first, but it's got one too many squiggles.

Oh I forgot to say: I never intended to aim that rant at you, and it's by NO means a criticism, your OP just brought up a recurring "issue" and I let this be the springboard for a suggestion. We at the C&V forum love to try to solve these mysteries, I know I sure do...I'm just trying to help others help us help them...which helps us all.
