Before

After

The work that i did to the bike includes.
Clean bearings and new grease in the headset ,bottom bracket and pedals.
Slightly longer stem.
Better brake levers.
New Simplex single gear lever.
Front simplex competition hand rod derailleur.
Different tyres.
Remove excess equipment , rear rack and lights.
I like this bike as it is in good condition and rides great and has enough patina to show it's age.

Bikes: Vintage Schwinn--still researching
1979 Schwinn Le Tour
Before: pictures from craigslist link when I purchased. No hardware whatsoever and the fork and stem were essentially so rusted, the rust formed as a welding material! Lots of work!

After:
New bottom bracket, brake/shifting cables, hoods, cups, bottle bracket, chain, seat clamp, tires/tubes, specialized white cork tape, and then shifters, fork, brake hardware, stem from used bike; removed most rust. Looking to get White saddle and new pedals w/ straps soon

The "show your red bar tape" thread inspired me to finally fix up the old Gitane I had hanging in the garage over the weekend. I had a bunch of spare parts left over from past projects I was able to put to use.
Cleaned and re-packed headset, BB, hubs and used Simple Green to clean the frame which worked great.
upgraded parts new to the bike include:
Wrights leather saddle
MKS quill pedals
Suntour Vx-GT front and rear derailleurs
SR stem
Dia-Compe brake levers, calipers, and top tube cable clips
Specialized Armadillo tires
The frame pump and h-bar bag I will "borrow" from my Lotus when I ride this bike.
New parts i had to end up buying:
brake cables & housing
new chain
Tressotar cloth bar wrap
inner tubes

"After" After V2.0
now with a wald rear rack, H2O bottle cage and fenders (take-offs from a Redline Mero 9 I picked up from the LBS for cheap-cheap) I also added toe clips and straps from my junk pile, and moved the h-bar bag to the saddle to make room for a headlight (soon to be added)

This is going to be my rainy day/commuter bike during the summer (when we get most of our rain here in FL)

1984 Colnago Sport

Before came with cheap Modolo brakes and levers, Gipiemme FD, Suntour ARX II RD, and mostly Gipiemme everything else, plus Suzue hubs laced to Araya rims 700c.

After upgraded mechs to Shimano 600 tricolor (6401 matching pair), 7 speed sunrace FW, Shimano 105 dual pivot brakes, Tektro aero levers, 105 7spd DT shifters, and with a Brooks B17
1983 Raleigh Condor

Before near full 105 Golden Arrow, with Sakae bars, stem, seatpost, pedals, and clips. Sunshine hubs laced to Araya rims 27"

After. Just replaced the BB with a cartridge, cables and housing, tape, and chain. Saddle needs to be swapped out still.
Few more in the queue to be worked on...

This started out as just a crusty red Schwinn World Sport frame. The original fork was bent and cracked. Canti mounts and dt shifter bosses were brazed on and a fork from 80's Falcon added. I had most of these parts laying around so it'll be my commuter bike for when I start commuting to school in the fall almost 40 miles round trip. I'll changed the tubulars to clinchers and that'll be about it. It's my path racer commuter build. Dig the Coach sunglasses saddle case! The fenders and rear rack I picked up for $5 this morning at a rummage and now just to find some fender struts to mount them...without the use of zipties and some reverse brake levers and she's done. I rode it around for alittle bit and it feels actually really good with the track bars. Woo hoo!

Campy Record LF hubs
Campy GS Crankset
Campy NR headset
Campy GS Front derailleur
Shimano Tourney Rear derailleur
Eighth Inch track bars
Pivo stem
Repop BSA Golden Deluxe decal set
NOS Suntour Superbe Pro shifters
Sorry no before pictures but just imagine a red rusty severely rashed paint and decals World Sport frame and that was it.

Hi Roger,
It is indeed a 27" frame which fits me very well at 6'3". I debated with myself very hard about the repaint but the amount of fairly large scratches in the original paint which had begun to show rust and the damage to the original decals (not shown in my before picture) made up my mind on the repaint. The color choice simply reflects what I had available
, I can tell you that it is a much deeper green in person (which I find quite attractive) as the lighting in the particular picture washed out the color a bit.
Thanks for welcoming me to the C&V!

Bikes: Too many Bicycles to list
I finally have got my Centurion Elite RS together enough to ride but still have a few parts to add but I am going to wait till it gets cold out to do it. So far the only thing that I don't have for it yet that is in the 600ex gruppo is a 27.0 seat post everything else is either on the bike or waiting to be put on like the stem, brakes, bronze 600ex levers, headset & I picked up the same wheels with 600ex hubs. I also wanted to say that with out the help of many members on here I don't think I would have been this far into the build so for the guys that helped me with my parts search Thank you.
My pics aren't the best as I wasn't in picture taking mode when I started firing away around the shop yesterday, I spent the last 3 days building and working on nothing but bikes and have a few before & after threads I can start.
Before as found.

Redid this Puch Alpina for my mom this spring. I need to remember to take better before shots. Not nearly as extensive a rehab as many of the above, but in I was pretty tickled with how it turned out. https://www.flickr.com/photos/6133923...th/5878703764/

How did she like it? Does she like the seat?
A word of caution - the stem looks to be raised too high out of the steering tube. I had one break off in my hands once because it was too high. This happened while riding in traffic. <-- bad juju, that.
Either lower it down or get your mom an especially made tall stem. I think VO and others have them.
