Here's a Rolls saddle I recovered. Got if free from a friend

I used leather from a thrift store jacket. There isn't a single flat piece without a seam, so i decided to incorporate it into the design. I grinded off the rivets that held the gold plates and replaced them with screws

Agreed, I took it out yesterday for a 22 mile maiden voyage, a combination of road and gravel bike path and it performed well and was silent on the road other than tire noise. The Suntour XCT derailleurs work well with the bar end shifters. Came with a nice set of Sun presta drilled rims, the frame is double butted Reynolds tubing, Dia Compe canti's and the 32 Pasellas makes for a nice ride.

Picked up a mystery bike because it had cantis. Discovered it was a KHS under layers of spray paint. Stripped painted ad revitalized it to at least some sense of its former glory. Hope it goes to someone who'll give it the riding it deserves.
1. Tange 3 butted tubing decal, 26.6 seatpost
2. Lable at the bottom "Parker Process, MIKI Sakai, Made in Japan,"
3. Suntour stamped dropouts
4. 57cm c-c seat and top tube
5. 27" Araya alloy wheels 36 spoke
6. Sunshine Hubs 3x6 gearing
7. Suntour ARX - FD RD, Suguino 50-45-34 triple crank, Dia Compe non-aero cantilever brakes, Suguino caged ball BB, suntour friction barends
8. Downtube and lowrider bottle cages, no pump peg, eyelets for rack on rear with simple upper eyelets, and double eyelets on fork

How does it do on rides of, say 25+ miles?
I'm serious, not being a troll. I'd be afraid that the seam would create, um, issues. But if the performance deosn't suffer, I have a Rolls with the cover torn to hell but otherwise in good shape that I might experiment with.

Not really much difference in the before and after pictures. A little bit of a letdown actually, considering the time that I spent trying to rub out the murky yellow paint. The paint is really hammered, meaning tons of scratches and some 'webbing'
I don't have Brooks saddle to bolt on(still looking for a cheap unit), so this generic saddle will suffice. The fenders, well they are pretty warped, due to being mounted on a bike improperly for a bout 35-plus years. Couple of issues, I cut the brake housings too short(me thinks), and I didn't have nuts and bolts for the front fender(so you will see zip ties for now).
Here is what I started with: I believe this is a 1972ish Grand Touring

This is the present form

Roger - it started out looking like mustard, and now it looks like lemon peel! It was well worth the effort IMO.
