There is still hope for thrift stores...

Red Bottecchia with Campagnolo Super Record. Wheels are Mavic Reflexes with Shimano hubs. Seatpost is something cheap and currently stuck in there good. My first Italian. Fully chromed underneath. Columbus SL. Thanks dad.

While out for a bike ride a few weeks ago, my wife and I found this at the end of a laneway.
It's a Eaton Roadking.
It had a sign that said "Free To Good Home". :thumb:
We were just a few doors down from my aunts house, so we were able to drop it off there.
I had to wash off a few decade's of basement dust and dirt and my wife cleaned the rust from the chrome.
We sold it cheap to a student who loved it.

Garage sales were pretty good today. Found two bikes, a mixte and a mtb, both in woefully neglected condition, but both at typical garage sale prices. I avoid picking up mtbs, except as donors, as by the time I am done rebuilding them, I am typically upside down. No thanks. This one is different, it is a 1988 Schwinn Cimarron LE. Its toward the big size for me, but if it fits, I will be retiring another MTB. If not, its a good one.

The mixte is going to have to wait for the next OA rust campaign, really overdue to do this anyway.

Surprisingly, this garage sale actually listed a Fuji and Schwinn bike in the ad, and we got there 1 1/2 hours after the sale began. No idea why they were still there. Odd really.

Six in six days...Thats enough.

Just getting off from work this morning, one of the first customers on a nearby garage sale.

$50.00 for this Vilano single speed. It is my first fixie and perfect size. The bike has some rust here and there, but not bad at all. Got some low budget plans to make it my own. Unfortunately I do not have a pink jersey so the handlebar tape got to go, lol.

The only thing I dont like there is no water bottle cage bolts, and there should be an option to have quick release bike skewers.

As for the bike I'll clean it up and get the rust spots off and give it a ride. Like some other posters have said though, I can't understand how he did not know the value as he must have had purchased it in the first place. Just seen one on eBay go for £350 GBP and the thing is like 10years old. Am really keen to keep it though. :)

Well make sure to post some "after" pics when you're done cleaning it up.

For what I got this for, I might as well have found it. Amazing bike, amazing condition. Full tricolor which is a little odd, but I'll take it.

Groovy man. That's a nice bike, congrats.

4Rings6Stars 09-05-12 08:33 PM

My AX came to me with Tricolor components as well. It now wears a more fitting group: 10s Campagnolo Record/Chorus with Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork, Moots seatpost and Moots stem.

Congrats, I was tempted to try and buy that for a buddy but it was too far of a drive. Great price.
