Still trying to find out about this bicycle. Says it was made in West Germany. That is all I know. Can anyone help identify? Don't really care if it is not worth anything, just want to know a little more about it. Thanks.

But it's been many years ago since I saw one. Probably someone else may come up with the right name. |

Two bikes from CL last week for a total of $130.00 The Lotus Excelle is fairly original when compared to the Lotus website description. Fair condition, the usual chips from 32 years of use and abuse.....the Liquid Wrench can was sitting on the wall next to it when I got there. Haven't checked the seatpost yet, but the fork is not bent. The other is a mystery. Much lighter than the size difference to the Lotus would indicate. Rattle can repaint. A project for sure. I will seek guidance as to origin in another thread. |
My brother recently started driving for a scrap yard. Not sure if it's a good thing yet or not but this is one of the best of his finds so far. A Fuji Sagares literally pulled from the big magnet.

My new 1993 Giant Iguana, paid 60.00 for it a few weeks back and made it my B bike in Portland, was great on the commute today and only had to swap the knobbies for slicks. |
I'm selling this, but I got it and a future fellow rider at a garagesale. He has an awsome CIOCC...

cost me free fifty free
Yesterday followed up on a tip that a guy wanted to offload some bikes. I called, he had four. Total dice roll, but I was locked in. Two Magnas:( , one Roadmaster:mad:, and one *Schwinn World Sport*:thumb:.... woooooo. Derailleurs date out to 85-86. Not too bad for free and a 12 mile roundtrip. Also caught up with another bike fool friend and he wanted to give me the green one pictured. '64 Schwinn Varsity. Curiously, there's a 1962 license on it. :wtf:

What is a "B bike"?
Good for commuting, winter riding, trips to the store... Etc. |
Like I needed another bike.... I picked up my second Schwinn World Voyageur tonight, in Cool Lemon, and even my size. Damn, decision time is coming...
At least my other WV is not my size, so it will be easier to let go (and will be the source for the original saddle this one is missing). The other WV I have is orange, which would have matched the wife's Element. Overall condition was really, really, good. Check out the rust free pedals and the super clean crankset. Bought it from a picker that got it at a storage locker auction.. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8457/7...8249f20e_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8035/7...3c9f220a_c.jpg bill |

here's a long distance "saved from the dump". I bought this from a fella on the RRB forums. His neighbor put it out to the curb for trash, and he couldn't let that happen because he thought it was unique. I have an inordinate liking for old Huffys so I had it shipped to me. I converted it to a single speed with a bmx freewheel and a Tioga bmx chainring. I'm going to put bullhorns on it when I find a set cheap, or maybe just cut up a set of drop bars. It's a 26"x24" set up.
There's been some chatter on this forum about these in years past. I'm having the hardest time finding a stem and a seatpost to fit it. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7264/7...535c25a3_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8298/7...17877a16_b.jpg edit: had to use cheap stamped steel Wald stem for now. Cut up some aluminum drop bars, and found a very short seatpost to fit it. Cranks are 1/2" thread, so nothing decent I have fits: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8446/7...581fd0f3_b.jpg goofy but fun bike. The disc makes a cool sound while riding. |

Sheesh, Bill, you're on a streak. I've yet to see a yellow one in person. Currently in mid-overhaul of an orange one. It was fairly crusty when found, but still had the original saddle, clips and straps. Finding a suitable replacement headset has been a challenge.

This bike was abandoned in the basement of my house. It's a Pegasus San Remo. Havenīt been able to find out much about it except for what the stickers say. Rode it SS for a couple of months, but now the frame has cracked...

Raleigh Record Ace, Reynolds 531. Payed ~$150 for it here in Sweden. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=272673 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=272674 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=272675 Best catch to date for me has to be my DBS Professionale with a Holdsworth frame and full Dura Ace group. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...1#post14727192 |
I found this on Craigslist. It's going to need some parts, but it is so original that I am going to try and stay as true to original as possible. I know it is just a mountain bike, but I always liked the look of older mountain bikes with skin wall tires.

I think we'll start to see the collectibility of these earlier mountain bikes start to inch up a bit. Love the front hub!

Found the 'his' to my 'hers'. (splash taped excelle.)

Syndermann, eat your heart out. |
lol . . . well, isn't that fun.
I find it interesting that at first glance the bikes look so similar but when you look close the details come out. That's an interesting collection given the Excelle was Lotus' most popular model and the Legend their most iconic (in my opinion and substantiated through catalog text). It kind of takes you back to 1981 and you've just taken both bikes on a test ride. The Legend is $130.00 more than the Excelle ($400.00 vs $270.00), which will you buy? The Legend is a 1980, or probably a 1980 1/2, given the lack of head tube badge and water bottle bosses. 1981 models had bosses and badges. 1980 models used a short cage derailleur, narrower gearing and slightly different seat tube decals. The Excelle is a 1981-82. |

Yes, I really love that rack. Nothing touches the paint, built in cable lock for the two bikes, and best yet, a built in work stand! Oh yeah, and it matches my wife's Element (that was the most important part). Took a while to find one used, as they sell for quite a bit new.... (And quite a bit used too).

1970's Kabuki by Bridgestone "Super Light"
Not sure what year or really much else about it. Some google-fu tells me it's probably mid to late 70's. It is most likely aluminum and the "lugs" should be aluminum cast around the tubes themselves while the they were in a jig or something like that. Not sure about it's value or any history of the bike. It's gonna need a complete overhaul. Everything cleaned and repacked. Some parts are gonna need a rust bath. New cables, housing, etc. The tubes still hold air but i will most likely just replace them. The tires have some kind of moss growing on the sidewalls so they will need to be replaced. Wheels appear tru which is one plus. All the components appear to be the original parts Derailleurs are Suntour stem shifters Suntour VGT luxe (rear) Suntour Compe-V (front) SR Cranks w/ BS crests on the crank arms (Bridgestone?) Dia Compe center-pulls and levers Sakae Champion Bars Some Chrome top tube cable clips Araya Alloy 27 x 1 1/4 rims Hubs are nasty and i can't tell what they are. I only paid $30.00 http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...8/IMAG0682.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...8/IMAG0683.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...0914-00010.jpg I was way on the north side of Atlanta for work and I went to pick up a parts MTB I had arranged on CL. On the way back saw a bunch of bikes in a guys yard. I wish I had gone there 1 st but oh well still scored a cool bike for super cheap. Guy had others I wanted too but my spending money had run out. |
Searching craigslist for a friend and I came across this nice 1985 Trek 400 series. For $160 I couldn't pass it up...too many nice parts! Nitto Moustache bars, Panaracer TG tires, Turbo saddle, Shimano 600 hubs, SKS fenders, etc. I don't plan to do too much to it besides add a chain & pedals, install the fenders and get it riding. It will be a nice compliment to my geared vintage Trek
