I really like your paint job. I'm pretty sure they came in that color combination, so I was surprised to see it wasn't original.

:) Dude, that made me chuckle. Haven't heard that expression in ages! Perfect for a vintage thread!

This is how the rusty Schwinn World looks today! A total of a $45.00 investment (which includes the original $15.00 purchase price)!
See the first attachment to see how it looked when I got it.[/QUOTE]

Nice catch. In my experience, frames sell cheap on C/L. Buyers want complete bikes. This can make for some great deals as a buyer, lousy deal as a seller.

If by any chance that frame is a ~54cm, I would be very interested...it looks a lot bigger than that though :(

OK I'm done with the personal collection for the rest of the year.

This bike showed up on CL for a great price. I saw it and really wanted it. Luckychow99 beat me too it but gave me a good price on it so I'm happy to have ended up with it after all. I thought it was gone for ever.

The SN says its a 82 730 61cm. The 730 was the model number for a bare frame.
The color is not original but my favorite color has always been orange so I'm thrilled with it and after watching Drillium Dudes build of his Orange Davidson I cant wait to really do a nice build on it.

It has Super record Stickers on it and I feel safe in assuming it had a full Group. It still has Super Record brakes, seat post, head set and front hub. It also has Suntour bar ends, Cinelli bars and Stem. Crank is a Suntour Cyclone wit ha record FD and a Crane RD.

Couldn't wait to play with it and I was in the shop pulling out some parts I had been holding onto for a while as soon as I got home. I threw Cyclone 6000 Derailleur set on it to replace the gummed up Crane. Had a brand new set of Michelin Erillium 2 I had picked up for a bike that I sold before they were mounted.
Excuse the pictures with the clutter background. My camera also has the knack of making things look worse then they are when using the flash.

Was listed as a 55cm, it's a 57-58cm frame.

After a week's absence from the bicycle scene, and after our first heavy snowfall, the Dump coughed up a nice Bianchi and a nice GT...

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=285981 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=285982

Needless to say, the bike flow in Thunder Bay has slowed dramatically, but I still make two trips a week to the Landfill site. It took me a good half hour to shovel these two bikes out of the snow today.

Chris_in_Miami 11-28-12 12:29 PM

Great scores from the dump! The GT Karakoram looks like a 1990, very nice bike.

Glennfordx4 11-28-12 12:41 PM

I don't even see bikes like Randy finds for sale around here let alone at our dump, nice scores :thumb:

Not vintage, but a catch is a catch. My friend sold me his old 2006 Kona King Kikapu, full suspension mountain bike for $75 this past weekend. He moved onto 29'ers, and since he was loading up the moving truck to move across town, his wife said get it outta here.

I took a fuzzy picture that's not up to my usual caliber, so I am embarrassed to post. But, after putting on my spare XT wheelset, tightening some bolts on the suspension linkage, and adjusting the shock air pressures, it's all set to roll.

Can't wait to try it out this weekend! OOoh, and he threw in a set of studded tires :)

well not from the dump- but on the way to the dump
2008 ALAN CX carbo/Alu frame

I got plans for it

just got home with this.. these are the sellers pics

haven't dated it yet but I'd guess early 80s Univega Super Strada with FULL Dura Ace EX, nitto handlebars, araya rims. Pretty sure the frame is Tange Champion, but the tubing sticker is gone http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

Seller went to town disassembling bike, even tore down the rear wheel because the spokes were rusted out. He spent a lot of time cleaning it up, but then lost interest in the project before he got it back together. From the looks of things, before the teardown it didn't get ridden much but was definitely neglected in storage.

The frame is my size.. not sure if I should spend the $ to complete the build and keep it, or continue to tear it down and sell it piece by piece or as a grouppo.. i know some of these DA bits garner some interest.... like, that stem is gorgeous! Would also be pretty sweet to put the DA drive train on a mtb drop bar conversion.. i dunno what i'm gonna do honestly hahaha

[edit.. actually, after measuring, it's 62cm c-c.. a touch on the large size for me. I will probably end up parting it out and/or putting some bits on other keepers]

toytech 11-30-12 09:12 AM

I say build it up, spokes are cheap. If you are missing any tools I probably have them and can help.

Going to pick this up tomorrow - from the photo it looks like a Dawes Galaxy. According to the seller, it has a Brooks saddle (B17?), Bluemels fenders and Milremo pedals. £33 - thoughts?

i was thinking of building it up, till i realized the frame was 62cm, which means it's too big for me and also limits the resale value. I think it's going to be smarter to part it out and keep the stuff I want
