Saw this on my local CL, it was an obvious Hybrid, couldn't make out the brand but he had it listed for 10 bucks and it had a 3 piece crank so i knew i couldn't lose, cheap 700c x 35 rims are worth more than that.

scrambled over to there after work and took a look at it, needs new shifters/brakes, seatpost, seat, cables, derailleurs look ok and so do the tires. going to swap the handle bar for a rise bar and pull it more into a the traditional hybrid. its an tange straight gauge. Mt Shasta i believe was built by GT as a budget brand. should build up nice for somebody. not sure its a keeper though. After speaking to the guy about what my purposes for it he told me just to take it and not worry about it, he wanted to make sure it was going to be used and not scrapped. soo Free is always a steel for me!

Bikes: '84 Univega Specialissima, Rawland Stag, '87 Rocky Mountain Blizzard

Gorgeous, mint condition '71 Super Sport. $30 on craigslist. I really, really wish it was a men's frame. This thing is in unbelievable condition. These fillet brazed frames are beautiful.

nice reflectors

I just bought this Trek 420 today for $50. I bought it for the reflectors and old bike lock-holder. The bike is not bad too.

Picked up this 1992 RB-1 from the original owner earlier this week. He turned it into a town bike with a pretty funny mix of high-end parts, including a Look Ergostem, nuke proof 7 speed cassette hub, Chris King headset, Ritchey Logic triple, XT derailleurs, Silver shifters, and huge albatross bars. Not the type of thing I would have put together myself, but it's actually quite fun to ride.

Took a chance on a single grainy non-drive side photo and came away with this for $30. Shimano 600 arabesque shifters, derailleurs, crankset, brake calipers and levers. It is a nice Norco Magnum from the early 80s...58cm and nice chromoly everything. Left seat stay broken off from seat tube. Both rims mangled. It apparently suffered this fate while locked up in a not so fantastic neighborhood. The wheels were modern joytech hubs so I will put whatever remains on free Craigslist and see if anyone can weld it back together.

Went to the bike shop in the country, same one that landed me the chromed lug Geoffrey Butler. This is one of the oddities that inspired this thread I linked to below. Schwinn Mountain frames that were in a catalog, but no model names. It sports one of the tallest pointed seat tube lugs I've ever seen. I didn't need another old school mountain bike, but I couldn't pass it up. It will be built up with comparable components, but with less rust on them. It came with Mountech derailleurs, SR Apex touring triple cranks, Deerhead thumb shifters, Dia Compe mini canti's(like my old Fuji Series 4) Brake levers simply say "Sierra" on them, and are typical motorcycle style. I have a 7/8's bullmoose bar I will try to put on, but I don't know if it will be tall enough.,,,,BD

I drove by a garage sale sign pointing down a side street but didn't pay any attention.
My wife yelled out "BICYCLES"!! I drove around the block and found this Jeunet.

I think it's about equivalent to a U-O8.
Not sure what to do with it. I might turn it into a single speed.

My first Campagnolo part.

Wow, great snag at that price. Do everything you can to save the original gear, especially that bar wrap, if it's leather. I know some of the Motos of that age came with a rubber 'leatherette' wrap which was just OK, I'm told.

Rest of the bike should clean up nicely!

That's actually probably a 1984. I have a 1983 G/T (just snagged for $75, same color as yours) that doesn't have water bottle bosses on the bottom of the down tube and the derailleur cables route under the down tube and across the top of the bottom bracket. The 1984 was also spec'd with a helicomatic hub in the rear.

Walked into the metal section at the dump today and spotted the fat downtube of a Cannondale from 40 yards away. It turned out to be a 1991 SC800 (3.0 Criterium, Shimano **-6400) ...wheels were on newer 6500 hubs. The downside... the bike clearly laid on the ground in the weather for YEARS. Almost everything with steel in it is junk. The mechs are toast. The seatpost did come out but not the stem. The BB feels good. There is bad bubbling in the paint at every braze-on and cable guide. If I can get it back on the road it'll be the fastest beater around!
No photos. It would just be depressing.

Q: Is that a converted trailer/camper that would have been towed behind a car? If so, that'd a great idea for re-purposing it; run an electric hookup into it and it'd make a great little workshop.

Picked up this Raleigh Grand Prix for $40. My first Raleigh, and it looks like it will clean up nicely. According to Sheldon, the cotterless cranks put it '77 or later. Suntour derailleurs, dia-compe brakes, 27" alloy rims.

This is how the A frame campers are built, the top is rigid and folds up and down and the sides collapse inwards... the split at the door is the height at which it sits when collpased.

It weighs less 1000 pounds and you can tow them behind almost any vehicle, my Jeep does not even know it is there.

It seats and sleep 4... I will probably add a 3 way stove, fridge, and furnace if I can find some decent salvage as it currently has it's original icebox and 2 burner propane stove.

I also plan to add a 12v electric system and a solar panel for lights and charging modern accessories... this will cover the forward roof panel and be exposed while the unit is folded or travelling.

This is what the Dualcraft trailers look like folded up (not mine)... I like the addition of the boat rack here.

It also has an electric hookup and breaker system installed with a single interior plug, not that we really need / want to pay for power hookups when we are travelling.

I got this leather tool bag and tools for ten dollars yesterday at a yard sale along with two nice 60s vintage chrome serving platters for snacks. Included in the kit was a spoke wrench and bottom bracket wrench which I didn't already have. So, not a bad catch but I'm still glancing in garage rafters hoping to find that dusty old Pinarello one day.

Yep, and don't forget to ask garage sale people for old bikes, even if they aren't in evidence. That's how I found my Trek 500.

"Any old bikes or musical instruments?" Is how I usually phrase it, and sometimes they magically appear. "This old thing? Howabout thirty bucks?"

forgot to take a picture of it, ill post one later..

Hi All!!

Just happened to stumble into one, the guy was in a hurry to sell, as no one here knows the brand, except for me.

only needed a good service to BB and Wheel hubs, relube the chain. new tires and it's ready, still had the original Miyata 700c x 20 tires, but they where dried up. so i put some Specialized Turbo 700 x 25,missing was the 105 Pedals, came with some Time Sport, and the original bar tape.

it rides very, very well, i had been wanting a vintage hi end bike from back when i started. now i have this one to cherish.
