'66 Carlton Catalina in rough cosmetic condition. Reynolds 531 Plain Gauge, Capella lugs. Traded straight across for a set of cyclesmith panniers. It was built up from a donor Le Tour, GB stem was the only original bit. Love the handy work.

Given the addition of a purple to blue fade, it appears the previous owner was infatuated with the '88 Schwinn Premis model.

The Puch looks just like one I used to have (the rear half at least). There should still be some old pictures of it on the CR site, the model name is Olympian, nice riding bike.

extrodinary lugs there ! Should be a true looker with some period components on it. Straight gauge 531 is still a nice riding frame material.

Good catch !

I found this late 80s (not sure what exact year) Schwinn Mirada in the garbage a year or so ago. This is a photo I took the day I found it.

The rear wheel was jammed into the non-drive side chainstay because it was crooked on the dropout. I straightened it (nothing bent, the axle was just installed at a weird angle) and had a ridable bike. With some basic maintenance it was good to me over the last year. Here's a photo from a week ago:

It is currently disassembled. Here's my thread:

It amazes me what people throw away or give up on.

Here's how I bought my 1969 Peugeot

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psits6oonj.png

Here it is now

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscvyfqaa2.jpg

This is my first restoration.

And here is an old Windsor I got for $25
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps3jwopilv.jpg
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps20ud39k9.jpg

Any info on the Windsor would be appreciated. I don't really know a lot about bikes; the Peugeot caught my eye sitting in an old bike shop floor, I bought the Windsor because it looks like it has a lot of potential. I am planning on making it my second restoration. The problem with fixing these old bikes up is you never want to ride on any day but a perfect day. I made the peugeot a fixie because somebody cut off the dérailleur hanger. I think I might try geared with the Windsor.

Wow! Especially digging that Fondriest. That must be a very early model for Fondriest.

Love the Marinoni. Still being made in Canada. I understand much of the business is now repaints and upgrades. A special run of steel frames was planned for 2015.

Picked up this crusty but very solid '76ish Centurion Super LeMans for $30 at Goodwill this morning. Great components, good looking frame (still hi-ten though). I don't need it and should flip it, but I'm a sucker for chrome socks front and rear...

Interestingly, it's an identical twin to a bike I had a couple years ago, when I first got into the hobby, although a different size.

Never heard of this brand before, and when I searched out the interwebs I found mostly questions about what the story is with Dorado bikes. So I guess I'm not alone in my search of it's history. It's a Taiwanese frame, nothing special about it, but the parts caught my eye. I've never had a bike with roller cam brakes before.

This is before and after a quick clean, lube and tune. I had the tires and grips already, I think it looks nice, and it rides very cushy with the Fat Franks.

Seizedpost 08-03-15 07:27 AM

Is there any particular reason the rear brakes are on the chainstay?

That was a mid 80's mountain bike thing. It didn't happen for too many years though. I'm not sure why it was done in the first place.

It was probably the house brand for a distributor at the time. My guess would be Miami Cycle, probably no longer in business or absorbed by some other company. I recall seeing them in the '80s.

OK, been working hard to REDUCE my inventory.... So of course, I visited the local DKO and came back with this load.

The Lotus mixte needs EVERYTHING! but it should turn out really nice. Four bikes: Peugeot, Bridgestone, Atala, and Lotus. Peugeot is the touring version (missing fenders and lights, still has rear rack).

looks like my 'out' trip to pick up the Fondriest & Marinoni (and a cargo case)....

The Fondriest is Gara tubing, by the way, so no wonderful prize...but it should be rebuilt into an especially cool goofing around/downtown/etc. roadie.

Got this Nishiki International for free!! Still trying to figure out the year of the bike serial suggests 1978 but the parts look a little more like mid-late 80's

Paint job on that Nishiki screams late 1980s. Just look up some of the component date codes.
