Congratulations! I saw it and wanted it but it was pickup only.

To big for me, I plan on flipping it. Figure a quick cleanup, new cables and bar wrap.

Better than expected, nice 700c Araya rims with Suntour Cyclone bits. New cables and bar tape and a big cleaning was all that was needed.

I saved some parts from being recycled this week. I went to the local thrift shop to look at bikes. I asked if they had any parts. The guy old me there was a pile out back that was probably heading to recycle. I followed him outside and there was a stash of wheels, tires, and plastic bins with every part that it takes to build a bike. Most of the stuff was junk or of little value, but I snatched up five good wheels including two Mavic Open rims, one laced to a Record hub and one to Dura Ace. I got four plastic bins of pedals, BB's and shifters with a few odds 'n ends mixed in. This stuff was silly cheap, but I am really happy that it will not get recycled.

^Wow, DA and Record wheels on the way to the furnace? Nice catch. I never thought about asking for parts out back. Post a photo.

Not C&V but steel and worth mentioning, picked up from the local CL (RST-22) for $300 bucks :). Problem is that it's in new condition and it fits!!

This one is now wearing new shoes, seat, post and pedals. Had the wrong size post, glad it didn't mess up the seat cluster

Here's what I picked. The Campagnolo hub looks like a Record Pista converted to skewer. The DA is 7403 w/ HG cassette. Other rims include one 26" MTB, one Araya 700C PX-45 and one Araya PX-645. There happened to be a set of RX ST-A410 brifters- same as I have on my Randonee.

For those of you in Seattle area this stuff was at Helping Hands thrift store on Bothell Everet Hwy. I got what I perceived to be the best stuff in the pile but there is more left that may yield something useful. The pile is not inside, it is out back under plastic tarps. There are more bins like those in the pic. Don't wait though because they will scrap this stuff soon. Apparently the guy that used to rebuild bikes for helping hands donated all this stuff due to poor health. I asked several times- there were no tools donated.

Edit: All wheels are $1.99 each !

I posted my acquisition of this one last year but never took any before pics. Just got it cleaned up and posted on CL.

Picked up this trio yesterday for $120. I did ok, not great. Unfortunately the road bikes are too small for me. I really wanted the Univega Viva Touring to fit me, it seems like a nice all around bike, and only a pound heavier (27.5) than the Lotus, including the rack, pedal and bottle cages, and speedo. Anyone want to trade these for a decent touring bike, somewhere around 56cm?

"I did ok, not great." Correction: you did fantastic! Unbelievable deal! The Univega touring bike, or the Lotus alone for $120 would be great! The Ascent is decent, too!

69tr6r 08-21-15 09:48 AM

Well they do look a little better in the pics than in person. The Univega needs a rear hub rebuild, and they both need bar tape, hoods and tires. Thanks for the positive post, made my day!

Picking this up tomorrow hopefully.

Picked this up this afternoon. I sold the Roland Racing chrome mountain bike a month or two ago, in a trade for the MB-2 frame. I was feeling bummed about it ever since, even though it had proprietary brake spring pegs, on the outside not inside. Anyway I spent most of my vacation (this week) recovering from having a HORRIBLY infected tooth pulled Monday morning. Friday night I spotted this chrome jewel on CL, and emailed. Somehow it stuck around long enough for me to pick it up today. The seller called it a Jamis, but how he knew what it was is confusing to say the least. The only marking on it is the Tange tubing decal. I kind of like the suspension fork, though it's probably ten years newer than the bike. It's smooth and tight, and the elastomers are perfect. No sag and plenty of bounce.,,,,BD

The Tange decal states Chromoly fork, stays, and frame tubes. That pretty much covers everything. Can't wait to get this all pimped out. I might even try some actual trails, since the fork is in such excellent shape. S/N is F6013718, in big letters. That almost sounds like a Fuji number?

Picked this up from the landfill right before the bulldozer reached it; I sold it for $120 after some TLC.

Hard to believe it would fetch $120. That's about what they sold for when new. Puch's first Taiwan-made bicycle and one of the first into the U.S. Not badly made but the stock chains were horrible. Once we replaced those the bikes worked well.

Every day bike I could not resist for some odd reason. A 1989 Free Spirit FS400 offered by Sears Canada and built in Canada by Raleigh Canada. Upright and comfortable, I rode it last night on a 20km rail trail ride with our casual riding group. Threw a tube and a pump and a multi tool in a plastic bag and slid it under the rat-trap. I truly felt like a "Free Spirit"! $30 at a flea market.

Would go for $150+ in my market. Good looking paint, aluminum rims. Markets can vary so greatly. Pretty bike

Received an email from the LBS last week while on vacation that they were setting aside a set of Cinelli bars with a Cinelli stem for me - free. Duh, no brainer. That's the second score of that combination in the last year. The first was in the dump pile behind their shop last fall.

I haven't done much research on them. The first the bar is too narrow (40 cm) and the stem too short (I think it may be a 70 or 80 - been awhile since I measured it). It will probably end up on the ISO/For Trade thread

The first - bars say 64-40

The second set (picked up today) are keepers - bars say 64-42

$70 Cannondale from the goodwill auction site. Cyclone f/d, the rest 105. Surprised to see a cinelli stem and a nice SR royal seatpost. Heck of a repaint with purple fade on the underside.

Pretty cool and a nice price. Are you going to re-repaint it?
