That's cool you have the OCLV, truth be told Nike bothers me more than the Lance. Have had the chance to build the trek yet?

You and me both, they always have by far since the beginning. Their shoes were absolute crap in the beginning and their business practices have more to do with situations like Lance than anybody knows.

Nice for them to walk away unscathed thanks to an army of lawyers and more $$$ than anybody.

Drink the Kool-aid, take your medicine, Just Do It, At all costs.

The Trek languishes way down in the queue, I have assembled a supergroup for it that has been diverted several times and was just rerouted recently so who knows, It's dang cool for sure and can't imagine it won't be awesome with even more modern kit when it gets there. Key thing is that it is an XL which is crucial on a modern bike to be big enough for me and they are still a bit cramped so who knows, I should get it and about a dozen others lined up to make some progress on. :twitchy:

Not nearly as nice as some of the bikes posted, but I’m a fan of the boom schwinns. This was on fb and the color was in season so I took the drive. Had no seat or bar tape. Wheels were mismatched. But the bike was stored inside so the chrome bits should shine up easily. Put on a seat and some wheels from the used bin and went for a spin.

C’mon, it’s green! And it has a really nice GB stem.

There have been 3 or 4 tall (26 inch frame) green Varsities for sale near me this year but as I already have a yellow one I passed them up. Mine is now a 12 speed and I put Panaracers on it, the tires made a HUGE difference in the ride. It went from a painful curiosity and conversation piece to being quite enjoyable for leisurely cruises around town.

Nice n clean yellow varsity, MM. I like the fenders and reflectors. I’m 6’1 so these 26 frames are a tad tall for me but I feel comfortable on the longer rides. Here’s a pic of my big blue Schwinn getting the fender treatment.

Picked up this Velo Sport 1983 Prestige with full Shimano 600 Arabesque and Araya double wall rims. The paint is rough but the frame is straight with no dent and the components are in very good shape. Too tall for me (60cm) but still very happy :D

Picked this 1984 Fuji Touring Series 3 up today. Replaced the wheels
for some 700’s. New cables and bar tape and a full service.

A frame that everyone freaked out about thinking that it was badly rusted out. Someone wanted to make a "stool" from it (poor waste of "SLX" tubing, I've got some "Carbolite" they can do that with). Only problem is rust damage at the front cable tunnel braze-on. Holes need to be brazed/soldered, but the actual tubing is still fine in that area, not thin and "crusty". Probably not given proper cleaning during paint prep and started oxidizing early on; not an uncommon area for rust around TT braze-ons (and others) on many of my early bikes. Flux is good for brazing/soldering, but a little left on an unpainted frame can cause problems later on in its life. Should be an easy fix. Might retain the paint job and just touch up depending on how bad that area is after the repair and rest of frame condition.

If that was mine, I would fill that hole in with JB Weld and save the paint.

Frame repair

That certainly is an option. I'm not sure as to how paint adheres to that stuff, but it probably would be fine with proper prep.
I have a micro torch that is good for this type of work, certainly enough to get solder flow without severely heating up the tubing beyond the repair area. I will experiment on some trashed painted tubing. The frame paint is far from perfect, and may get a full paint job, which I hate doing because I can't decide on color(s)/scheme; it's hard enough for me to decide on what components to fit.

It's not a bike and it has been repaired, most of the parts are there and I plan on repainting it after a good cleaning. It seems to be built like a tank.:p

Nice and dirty, but most of the original finish is there.

The forum will not let me post photos yet because I do not have 10 posts, but I saved a 1981 Bianchi Nuovo Racing from a client's house that was moving. It still has the original tires and factory grease, so it's basically been sitting doing nothing for 39 years.

Most of these old school truing stands were carry-overs from the motorcycle industry, hence the "tank" build. ;)

True.
Here it is: I think it's a 1981 Bianchi Nuovo Racing that seems to be completely original. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Other "bad" spots to "restore": paint is peeling around the bridge, might have to strip more than expected, still pretty solid paint aside from the cable tunnel corrosion and various chips and/or abrasions.

Mr. 66 01-13-20 11:52 AM

This was a parts buy, after inspection it is a 1977 Raliegh Team Issue Reynolds 753. Spray bombed rattle can blue, complete with orange peal and paint run finish. I think some rattle can red will bein my future. I took the fork out and there is red and black overspray on the steer tube.

One of mine also; it looks and is tough (I assume Rossin's proprietary design). I also like this shell from my Moser Leader utilizing an integral bridge design. I don't know the year of the frame nor the maker (late '80s?).
