Probably should have put this in here. Apparently I was the first of 200 inquiries on FB MP, and he appreciated what I was doing with the giveaway as a teacher. I thought it was a pretty incredible deal.

Not CV, but definitely a catch and 1cm on the smaller of my size. A mishmash of parts and the Pinarello disappearing decal disorder intact. Tiagra, Cosmic wheels, cotton sided Michelin Pro Race tyres, the Pinarello saddle and Thompson post.

Not sure how I want to pursue this but there is a matching jersey in Kyiv, Ukraine! Might go campy and keep the wheels intact. Change the saddle, tyres, cables and tape.

Anyone have one of these? And anyone have any good ideas on the decal-less areas?

Thanks Ben! I have no experience on working on pumps. I was surprised when I tried to pump it, I still felt pressure. I was expecting it to be dead. lol Anyway, it's just going to be decoration. I bought a can of green paint to keep with the original colors. :)

Yeah I tore it down the other day and prepped it for paint. The rubber washers are about halfway deteriorated.

Yep the bike is certainly nothing to get excited about but I may enter into the clunker challenge this year with it. After that I may try to turn a sows ear into a silk purse with it using parts from the local bike collective. Or I may just give it away.....
Pressure washer is nothing to write home about either....but it works so thats good

Went back to the co-op's dumpster for some small parts; DC cable carriers for centerpull and canti brakes, cable hangers, things like that. Got an adjustable stem with bars and Tektro levers with the linear pull brakes, that 32H DX front wheel I mentioned before, an unneeded but matching set of 700C road wheels in decent shape. While I was there some guy asked if there were any good 26 tubes and I handed him three front wheels with fully inflated tires. Amazing what they throw out.

I returned home from the grocery yesterday to see the collector throwing this little Bianchi Lynx from my neighbor’s trash into the basket. I will find it a proper home.

Wow, that is ridiculous!! Lucky you!

A couple catches today. Nothing super fancy, but solid. A Windsor mixte with some cool lug work and an 89 Schwinn Impact (love the black chrome paint on this). Should clean up nice and probably flip these.

@brandenjs Those are great finds! I love the mixte and that chrome paint job is amazing. If I could find a mixte frame with the black chrome paint I would be in heaven.

Sounds like you need to find an A-D Vent Noir II.

You are absolutely correct. It is a real beauty. I did a quick search and found a listing on eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/114472849039

I am not sure if this is a reasonable price or not but I am seriously considering this as the frame size will definitely fit me!

That's funny you should say that. I have a standard Vent Noir in the stable. This one was converted to a later model Dura Ace group, but I kept all of the 1st gen/Crane Dura Ace group.

Thanks to a PSA by WGB in the eBay/craigslist thread, I bought this Giant Kronos only five minutes away from home. The right STI shifter was gummed up, but that took only a few minutes to cure.

That's pretty steep. I'd expect the price for a good one to be about half that but I'm no specialist. I did sell the bikes new.

Also, you need to be aware that the Vent Noir (model) II is the one available in smoke chrome. The original VN, like the one you linked to, is only available in the matte black finish. Both very nice and probably no other differences in the frames other than the finish but if you want chrome, you should probably get chrome. Good luck!

Thank you for letting me know. I couldn’t find anything on the chrome finish but now that you have confirmed they did make them I will begin my quest on finding one. The matte black is nice but the chrome is better. Maybe I’ll get lucky and won’t find one that is overpriced.

It's a good looking bike. I sorted out out the gummed up STI lever and replaced the rear brake cable(rusted). It was never ridden much,, even has the original tires still on it..

It cleaned up well with a quick bath..

I got it very cheap, and with a little elbow grease and a few parts from the co-op it’s looking and riding pretty nice. Was missing a seatpost and seat and the shifters were broken. My parts bin coughed up the shifters and seat; and a brand new $5 seatpost from the co-op got it back on the road. Going to flip this one as it’s too small for anyone in my family....

Last thing I need is another bike...

But this followed me home. Parts scavenge. Anyone in Chicago/burbs who wants frame with shoved in post is welcome to it.

Keeping wheelset, bars/levers and components. Seatpost is a shame though.
