Yes, it sure is! I can't win though. I haen;t so much as taken this thing around the block yet. I left my pump up in Maine so I went out and bought one in a LBS where I just happened to be, 40 mile away from home. The kid spent about 40 minuits trying to sell me a $2500 bike and a $200 seat but ZERO minuits checking to see if the thirty dollar pump worked. Well, guess what. Nope, it doesn't work. I STILL have no idea if this thing sucks or not.

I was on a long ride today and stopped at a yardsale. Picked up a Raleigh Olympian Mixte for $20.00. (called my girlfriend to pick it up for me) Earlier I was at a snobby bike shop looking to buy a mounting bracket for my lock... but I walked out just before spending $20.00 on it because I really just didn't like the people there. The Raleigh had a brand new one on it so I sort of got a free bike. I fixed all of the little problems (rear axle wobbling like crazy) This will be my loaner bike at my workplace... so that my out of town Photographers and Stylists can ride when they work with us.
Never rode a mixte before... going to give it a spin tomorrow morning.
What are your thoughts on these?

I go to the GoodWill every other Saturday because that's half off day. This is my first find besides a 12" fixie for my two year old. What do y'all think? Does anyone know enough about this extinct steel to be able to tell the model with the decal missing? All of the other decals are there but they are cracking. The whole thing is totally dry-rotted but hey it was $17. The exposed parts of the cables are rusty but they aren't frozen. All of the bearings seem alright. I'm amazed it has as little rust as it does. It came from Illinous or however that's spelt.

For $17 it's well worth it.

Looks dressed out exactly like the 84 Trek I just sold. Suntour hub, ARX derailers, Diacomp 500 brakes, Custom 39/52 crank, Araya or Rigda rims. Custom stem and I don't recall the make of the bars.

That's the best looking dork disk I've ever seen.

I forgot to mention: I got a PM on my local bike club forum; a friend said that there was a bike out for trash at the curb at the house next to hers. She let me know in case I wanted to get it, at 1:45 pm. I didn't get online until 3:30; I got over there 4:00 and it was gone. I told her next time, just grab it and keep it in her garage until I can pick it up!

Picked up this pretty Panasonic Sport 500 a few weeks ago. The rear brake cable is frozen and needs replacement, but over all it is in nice shape. I think the choice of handle bars detracts from the overall look of the bike. I am trying to decide if I fix it up as is and sell it, convert it back to drop bars (from the parts bin) or set it up with a north roads?

Yeah, North roads all the way. Drop bars always look kind of funky on women's frames. I think most people that buy women's frames probably prefer north roads too, of course that is a completely unscientific opinion.

Hey Ben, what does that sticker on the seat tube say, right below the twin top tube of the Concorde?

Met this guy on craigslist, he wanted to sell this wheel for $30, or trade for for an 18 tooth single speed freewheel cog... me- "Oh yeah, I have one of those" (heads to lbs, picks one up for $6)
although, I now I have to find a matching front wheel, hmm
