Totally sweet Motobecane mixte in Miami.

First-gen Cyclone derailleur, leather saddle not too far gone (or so it seems), Nervex lugs...

Kinda small, though

Indeed. Lower end 70's Gitanes seem to pop up all the time, but I rarely see one's like this. If that were my size, I'd be begging for a facilitator.

I am absolutely smitten with this Gitane. I'm considering seeking out a facilitator. But before I do, I'd like to nail down that size...

Go for it - haven't seen one in that color and it looks to be in pretty good condition.

I commute thru Milwaukee along I-43 during the week. I'd have already contacted the seller if all my spare cash wasn't already allocated towards my wife's Christmas gift. Anyway, let me know if you need a local set of eyes to look it over and get some measurements for you.

That's why I love this thread - when I come across a great deal on a bike that not is in my size or budget, it can still get to a C&V-er who will do it right.

I also sent him text messages (as was requested in the ad) a couple times with no response. He just listed it again for $65 more. As I mentioned earlier in this thread the guy is a bit slippery. He advertises his location in towns close to the Twin Cities to get people interested then once you contact him for the address you find out it is another 30 miles away. Don't believe what the guy says about the bikes he sells.

The Gitane was sold.
I had emailed the seller earlier saying I wanted to measure it for a friend, she replied quickly that it had already been sold.

Not really, it is a frame that was built for Colnago, not by Colnago. Colnago wanted to cash in on their brand name appeal back in the day so they had a smaller builder build some frames for them and they called them Colnago Sports. No one seems to know who that builder was but I guess it doesn't matter, the frame itself is fairly nice but it is definitely not a true racing Colnago. I have one, it is a pretty good bike made from Aelle tubing but the parts on it are junk. I paid for $125 for mine

Thanks for the facilitator support, everyone. I agree, jeirvine. It's nice that we try and keep the C&V finds "in the family". We have a great crew here.

Also, it's obviously a moot point now, but the measurements on the Gitane were 22" C-C and 25" C-T
