Please, someone buy this and lower that stem!

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/4307068998.html
[h=2]1976 Eisentraut Limited, 53cm - $800 (berkeley)[/h]

I bought this bicycle a couple months ago, intending to make it a daily commuter...but I've decided it's too lovely to leave chained up in downtown Berkeley all day. Such a regal machine deserves more respect. Recent upgrades/modifications include: new Velo Orange touring pedals (with steel cage and leather wrap); new Velo Orange leather touring saddle (less than ten rump-miles on it); new Continental Touring Plus tires with reflective sidewalls; new brake pads and cables; new chain; freshly wrapped bars; stem extender to provide a more upright posture; and a coffee cup holder, if you want it. The drivetrain, bars and wheels are all original. It's a 12-speed, with Shimano and Suntour components. The frame dates to about 1976; it's beautifully lugged, with some eye-catching details--note the white spades in the photos. The paint's original, in good condition but for some small blisters on the top tube (see photo). Hand-built by the Oakland master and originally sold at Stone's Cycle in Alameda, this bike is hella local. It should fit anyone from 5'7 to 5'9, I think. I'll take offers.

Also, please note: you have to pass a Turing test to get a response. If your email is cryptically worded and doesn't actually reference a bicycle, I will assume you're a robot trying to get my email address. Yes, it has come to this.

I know this was posted on here a few days ago but I can't seem to find it to reply to the original ad. The seller started at $700 and is now at $500 and ripe for an offer. I've been communicating with him off and on. Nice fella!

Eddy merckx - $500 (Salem, OR)

It might be worth it just to be the one to take that stem and saddle off.

....and then throw them off a very high bridge.

Why doesn't somebody go buy this poor thing and treat it right?

It could be a ton of fun and a whale of a rider with some work.

I find this to be pretty cool. Bianchi's 50th anniversary catalog. Printed in 1935. Too spendy for me.

Rainy day, not riding today so may as well thin the herd.

Race bike. Plain and simple race set up. Was a team bike for Saturn, has the names frank McCormack and Nicole on it. Light by 2001 steel standards. No bottle mounts, nothin extra, just tall dura ace drive train. Canti brakes and at this moment some tandem bike wheels for abuse. Good old bits. I've got an old sella seat or the new one on there. Carbon fork is nice. It's a cool frame with history and I'd love to see it go to a good race home. If ya just want the frame lets talk. I'll strip it down. I think 600 is fair. Do you?

The setting looks like it is inside a barn. Barn find?

If it isn't too cold to be outside here, I would be checking it out.

I pity the person that got this 'treasure'. I had Syncro 2 on my '89 Bianchi Super Leggera. Never could get it to shift well no matter what I tried. A real lesson in frustration. They are notorious for not working as expected. There are so many sets because they were trying to find one set that worked.

PX 10!
https://southbend.craigslist.org/bik/4328367059.html

1973 Peugeot PX 10! This bike was donated to our community shop. It was a one owner with a good history. I have tore it down and cleaned, polished and touched up the frame. All bearings have been cleaned or replaced and repacked. New cables, housings, brake blocks and handlebar wrap. This bike is not all original but has been updated were it counts. Full 531 Reynolds frame, Brooks saddle with original decals and paint

It is a matter of what you expect. Unfortunately they were a stop gap measure, according to the Dancing Chain Campagnolo expected index shifting to be a flash in the pan (maybe like Positron and earth shoes) and didn't take it seriously until it was too late. I never understood the difference but the real issue I guys is Campi always shifted late as opposed to how suntour and shimano shifted. Coupling the late shifting with a then regular parallelogram RD as opposed to a slant parallelogram and you have a recipe for disaster. If we had taken the time to understand the system it may have had a chance but its one shifter fits all with the appropriate FW, chain, and insert approach was .... well less than satisfactory. One of these days I want to take another stab at it and see if I can get a working system going.

The last 8sp version with the integrated cable adjuster that was index only and did not attempt to be backwards compatible actually seem to work fine, and have the same pull as 8sp Ergos.

Very true but I don't believe it was called index and by then Campi had drunk the kool aid and started to copy shipmano and going for the slant parallelogram RD.

Ha! Lots of guys over on the ibob list do this with their bars, and I don't get it, either. "Clown wagon" is an apt description, indeed.
