[h=2]Schwinn Paramount 1972 - $900 (Schaumburg)[/h]

(google map) (yahoo map)

This 22.5" (56cm) Paramount was built in September 1972. The original owner told me it was factory repainted about 1980. The bike is in great condition, just needs a cleaning. All Campagnolo.
The original Campagnolo pedals will come with the bike, not the pedals in the photos.

I was told by the original owner that after the factory repainting in 1980 that this bike spent most of its time as a wall hanger in his family room.

Waterford can fix that bad paint for a price that's reasonable, compared to the cost of a new frame. I agree, that blue powder coat looks dumb, especially around the chrome lugs.

A little Testor's model paint in a close-enough color and that'd look great.

It's just a bike, not a fetish object.

A Columbus "Zeta" Benotto isn't a holy grail find but I post it here because I wonder if that might be the original bar tape.

OK, it is not MY fault your bikes are worth less than they would otherwise be had they been kept original. And secondly, it is NONE OF YOUR DANG BUSINESS if I buy this one on a low-ball offer and have it returned to factory specs by the manufacturer. Just like you can deface your property any way you like, I can do what I want with mine.

Sweet purple Peugeot touring rig for $135. Bars look kinda bent in pic, maybe angle?

I'd be all over this if it was one size smaller.

Not especially rare and up charge for condition, but I am always envious when I see a mint-like bike I wish were in my size.

1987 Team Miyata Frameset

Big fan of Miyata Team bikes. This is the second year of triple butted tubing, and this frame doesn't have the internal brake cable guide that was responsible for some frame defects.

I believe this actually belongs to one of our forum members...?

It's probably a good deal but not an excellent one. It depends on what you think the frame is worth without the original paint. I can't tell what the derailleurs are, but I'm going to guess Mavic.

If it is a Stowe, it's certainly unique and worthy of a place in someone's collection of riders.

Its always hard to value small names and TT bikes, but I think at $500 it's a pretty attractive buy if you're into that sort of thing. I agree with your approach. I think this has a buyer at $500.

Those look like Mavic derailleurs to me, and those are pretty neat, unusual bits. I'd even say there's meat on the bone as a part out. I really like the parts, but I think it's a cool build that deserves to be sold together.

Making money on a flip or part out would mean about $100 above what it cost. Could you get it? Maybe, but there are better flips out there. The number of buyers drops precipitously for used bikes above $400.

So, I think we're on the same page: interesting bike, unusual bits, great builder, but uncommon enough that it's hard to appraise. If it were my size, I'd consider buying it just to tool around on as a stealth beater.

We're pretty much on the same page...and I'm tempted as well...but I don't think I'd enjoy it. Those Mavic bits are worth the price of admission me thinks, but there are better part outs around.
