I'll try one of these this year.
I always have two helmets in my rotation.
One for the cabin and one for home.
I cracked my other Volt in my wreck last spring and I've heard nothing but positives about the fit available in the Mavic Plasma.
Looks cool too.

I'd love to try out that casco attack, but I couldn't find a US store that stocks it and helmets are a try before you buy item. I have a round bowling ball head, and some helmets work, some don't.

For about 18 years I wore a Specialized that you see in my avatar. Aesthetically it looked like a peanut, and I never really liked it. A dork helmet, but not as bad as many others. I even painted it yellow!
In recent years I tried on all sorts of new helmets. They all were like wearing a torture implement and cost more than my wife's wedding ring. Anyway, most of them made me look like a wanker-racing-wannabe. One day I grabbed a Bell Solar and tried it on for feel — SOLD! It's a boring silvery white cuz I often ride in the dark. I don't look too much like a dork in the thing. I strap twin diode lights to it so I can stare down attacking cagers. A friend has the same model in yellow/black that looks downright appealing — but then she's a girl, and most helmets might look more appealing on her anyway. I don't even remember if it came with a visor. To me, all visors look dorkish. I wear polycarbonate wrap-around lenses.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned them yet, but I wear a black and charcoal Lazer 02. Not as comfy as my old Giro that was covered with numerous aftermarket foam pads inside, but close. I dunno what design flaw the Lazer has in it, but I do know when mountain biking in warm weather, it somehow channels ALL the sweat into a steady drip on the bridge of my nose.,,,,BD
like this one, but glossy with charcoal accents. The bell Solar I used to have, fit perfectly from the first second I put it on.

We wear what reflects us..
The Soumy Gambler fits me to a tee.
First, I was a professional gambler for no less than 35 years, and it suits my present riding style, along with way out roadracing suits..

I've always been an understated kinda guy... no flash, just simple classic colors.

I really like the Berns and Nutcases... wish the Yakkays would fit me better. I have a huge noggin and all helmets have to be so large I look like I should be riding the short bus no matter what the style. I sometimes think I'm hydrocephalic.

I also have a Protec multiple impact helmet that I really should wear during mountain biking. I was hoping for solid black judging by the pic in the catalog, but then when it arrived, surprise!! It had painted white zombies on the opposite side from the catalog image
It also squeezes the sides of my head in odd way. I may try to modify the padding in that area to see if it can be corrected. I bought it for skateboarding, which my g/f semed to tire of doing as soon as she learned roll and balance. I also can't afford to miss time off of work due to twisted knees, etc. I am 45 yo after all. I shouldn't be doing sports that most people hang up by the time they start college, lol (Unless they go pro of course),,,,BD

I don't use vintage helmets even when I'm riding vintage bikes. I have a black 2010 Giro Prolight whose look I really like, more so than that of their 2011 model. It's light as a feather, too.

Now almost all are light and tolerable and much safer.
I go with what fits, Giro's don't fit my noggin well w/o lots of added pads. So, go with what fits best, is tolerable cooling wise and only ride them for 2-3 years. Expanded polystyrene does not age gracefully in my opinion.
My noggin is worth the continuing cost.
And I rinse my helmet out pretty frequently including the straps. Sometimes after every ride, after any long ride is worthwhile.

I've got the Mavic plasma carbon and love it. It's very comfortable and it fits great! And it doesn't look to dorkey for a bike helmet.

I bought the Bell back in the day as well and went back to the leather hairnet after a few months because that Bell was so uncomfortable. Even the cheapest modern helmets are a huge improvement to what we had 30 years ago.

Lets see - 120.00 for a nice helmet or 20.00 for a Walmart special and 100.00 for that for a Brooks saddle - I'll go with the saddle - Makes my butt look good...

My brother is a doctor who specializes in brain injury and rehabilitation. If it wasn't for his long and graphic lectures about the dangers of not wearing my helmet I might still be happily riding bare-headed. However all helmets look too much like my son's toy transformers for me to find them aesthetically pleasing.

+1 for the Nutcase.
Lots of graphic choices, and reasonably priced.

I have an older Bell that has no tail, I kept it in reserve, probably a good time trial helmet actually, most of us look down from time to time, a round or simple ellipse is probably faster with few vents, not cooler, but faster. Note the work of Giro for the pros lately.
