Maybe, but the original Wizard production still is what it is. And it's very limited. The Confente deal is based on more than small numbers, IMO (otherwise, Art Stumps would be worth as much as Confentes, and they're not). If somebody bought the Confente name and started making bikes, it would mean that Confente production didn't end "long ago" - and this is plausible - as with Rene Herse. I admit the comparison between Wizard and Confente isn't prefect, but there's much more to the Confente piece than just "rarity" - and I'm speaking as someone who would love to own a Confente (and does own a Wizard).

Sorry, but there's plenty of "crap-factor" either way (Cinelli or Confente). You can't separate interest neatly into "legit" and "not-legit." That's how the vintage bike world goes. I dot think Cinellis involve a bit less interest from the Guinness-Book crowd, but there's no simple divide.

I for one have enjoyed and learned a bit from this thread. Having never seen or heard of a Cinelli with solid lugs being made after 1968, I had assumed that if Model B production continued past then, they would have used the drilled lugs as well. I now learn that the Model B never had drilled lugs. Whether any were made after 1968 is still unclear. Perhaps because I am a mechanic and regularly take things apart (and sometimes reassemble them), I still mistrust dating bikes based on easily swapped components.

Okay. I give up. I know that I'll live to regret this, but I'll take a stab at a Cinelli dateline, though I am 100% certain that I am not 100% correct. Or probably even 50% correct. But, it's a start. Feel free to add, delete, or edit. Go ahead, unsheath your knives and tear me apart This should be fun......

· Late 50s – Larger head badges with dark blue paint discontinued
· 1960ish – Decals lose metallic quality silver and gold
· 1960/61 – Campy Sport RD hole no longer (occasionally) appears on rear dropout?
· 1960-62 - Wolf ear head tube lugs disappear?
· 1962 – Cinelli buys Nitor saddles
· 1962-64 – Model B occasionally equipped with Altenburger dropouts, derailleurs, and brakeset.
· 1963/64 - Alloy Cinelli bars introduced
· 1964ish – BB shell shifts from occasionally 74 to consistently 70mm?
· 1965 – Oil ports discontinued
· 1968 - 1A stem introduced
· 1968 – holes in lugs appear
· 1968ish – Brass head badge becomes aluminum
· Early 70s – fender eyelets taper off?
· 1973 – Seat post binder bolt changes?
· 1974/75 – bottle braze-ons appear?
· 1977/78 – Change of logo on stems
· 1978-81 – Change of logo on bars

he offered me to take it out for a ride, but i didn't, i had my brand new reebok's on (I collect shoes too) but i will ride it when we go for a ride next week devin!!!, I wanna see that DVP bike route on the east side of toronto.

I'd say the wolf ears disappeared by 1960.
The 74mm BB was 1960-64?
1946-48 were Giotto Cinellis
1948-1950 maybe 52 the seat-stay cluster is very Frejus-esque.
1950-1955 Model Bs had internal rear-brake cable guides.
Never seen a B with an oiler port.
B production went into the early 1970s.

Edit: I forgot to add, I have never seen Cinelli branded cranks (likely Magistroni) after the 50s.

This is turning into a very useful thread! The 74mm BB - I had no idea - and you have explained the two days it took me messing around with the bottom bracket on my Cinelli. I was mystified until now.
