Cape Cod Ride In August
#27
September works better for me as well. And the Cape is nicer off-season, but still not what it used to be (right, Scott?).
How about making it a true Cape Cod ride up the rail trail. 44 miles of MUP from Dennis to South Wellfleet and back, lots of possibilities for lunch/snacks, and not one hill in sight!

Since this got bumped back to September, if anyone still wants to go on the August 6th date, I can lead a ride around the Portsmouth / Great Bay / Rye area and then hit up Loco Coco's Tacos in Kittery.
I'll start a thread if there is any interest.

Sorry Tugral, I'm on the Cape that weekend. I still want to do the NH ride .. earlier in Sept.? Oct? Can it be that we're moving that fast thru the calendar?
Plus we want to see you at on Saturday 8/20 at the Larz Anderson show!

Top, we can reminisce about the good old days when we used to chase the locomotives down the tracks and visit Camp Wellfleet!

The National Seashore does a great program about the military use of Camp Wellfleet. We used to ride our old Schwinn and Huffy beach crusiers out there at night and look for UXO at the ammo dump.....and climb the water tower.

And watch strike aircraft from Quonset Point and South Weymouth NAS hit the target ship in the bay. Maybe you didn't have the view in Eastham we had on the bay side of South Wellfleet.

The Last Gasp ride is on Sept 18th leaving Sandwich to Provincetown with a ferry ride back to Sandwich. I'm doing it to raise money for Alzheimer's research. Please google The Last Gasp for further info. I don't know how many of you get involved with organized rides, but this may be a good way for people to get together, raise money for good causes, and hit a lobster bake.

I am booked the first weekend of Sept (I think that is already been ruled out, but I am just adding it in).
I am also doing a charity thing the 18th (skating the Boston Marathon route). Other days are still open (wonder how long that will last).

Wow, so many dates being flung around. I think I won't be available that Sept weekend. Is August off the table now for certain?

The 17th sounds good..... Does everyone want to make this the official date? If so, let's start a list of riders. PM me, and I will add a list of those who will be riding.

So the Cape Cod Ride In August is being held Sept 17?

Sorry guys, I doubt I can swing the 17th. Thanks for keeping it on a Saturday though. I really wish I could join you!
On a side note; Mrs. PB and I are planning a trip to Bar Harbor in late September. Usually we just take Path Bikes for the carriage trails in Acadia. This time I'm taking a road bike to climb Mt. Cadillac and do some other rides.

Do take a road bike and do ride the Park Loop Road! Cadillac too, of course, maybe on the same ride.

We were so confident it would rain on our August date that we moved it to Sept.
