I'll bike in from Chatham, getting a 13 mile head start.

Still talking 35 miles? If I can do that, and if I am allowed to do that I am interested in doing it! Old Road Bikes I take it?

MG, it's 22 miles one way, 44 total. Mostly flat, it's got some long grades that look like they're flat but you can feel it a bit. Have you been on it before? If not, it's a easy ride, lot's of places to stop and enjoy the scenery and rest your bike.
You can do it. The more vintage the better but not required .. It's CapeCodders ride, I'm sure he'd agree.

Oh. Were doing the CCRT? Cooll. The wife and I are actually going to try that out on Thursday. We are planning on going top to bottom and letting Boy play at the bouncy house park, then heading back up. We are not really hard-core cyclists so this will be the longest ride, by far, that either of us has done.

We should think about a sidetrip out to the beach, either at the Marconi site at South Welfleet or Coast Guard beach in Eastham, if for no other reason than to see Scott's nostrils flare at the sound of beach break. No more than a few extra miles either way.

Ha! If it's going off with a fall swell, I've got a board stowed at my house only a quarter mile from the trail in Eastham .. it might turn out to be a "Surf & Turf" ride.

Here is a link to the Rail Trail map..... We can park in South Dennis right off exit 9 (ROUTE 134)........
https://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/trails/print/ccrt.pdf
This should be a really nice ride with plenty of stops, for food and rest. It's just a fantastic time of year for a on cape ride. Let's hope for no rain........
So far we have :
nlerner
Scottryder
top506
capecodder
southpawboston
bikemore (maybe)
rootboy (you better be there)! You live far too close to be a no-show!
jptwins (maybe)

I'll do my best Mike. Actually, I'm getting a little miffed waiting for a confirm from these guys. Not very considerate though I understand their schedules are in flux. Anyway ... By the way, it may be premature but, have you guys decided on what machines you're bringing?

We just spent a few days down The Cape. The place is sloppy with bikes! They are everywhere and seem to be a truly integrated part of life there. It's cool.

The Cape is where old lugged steel goes to die.
I was down over the weekend myself, riding out Irene with my elderly mother. Got in a ride on the OCRT Friday.
0930 or 1000, either works for me.

or rust!
I rode the trail yesterday, from Eastham north to Wellfleet, southwest to Harwich, with a return to Eastham. The amount of storm debris on the trail west of Orleans was immense, especially acorns. Sticks, leaves, you name it, it was lying on the trail. Made for a rather white knuckled ride in that area. North of Orleans was very clean .. although I noticed the root damage has returned in some sections.
