Seen from that angle it does capture the different styles well. Unfortunately that spot will always be remembered for what happened in November 1963, at least that was my first thought when I saw it.
I cycle by that area of the Grassy Knoll, Triple Overpass, Old School Book Depository, and Kennedy Memorial fairly often & am amazed at how those sites continue to attract folks 49 years later. There are a few guys that work the area trying sell tourists on taking a tour of the area or buy a newspaper that discusses assassination. It is definitely a big tourist draw. The Sixth Floor Museum is also there which also gets a fair share of folks and I think it does a pretty good job of telling the story of that tragic event and it's aftermath. The City of Dallas is planning some sort of big 50 year memorial event there for next November. Another fairly big draw for tourists is to go up about 25 miles north and see the 'Southfork Ranch' where the 'Dallas' TV show was filmed. Evidently there are other big draws to this area as I heard this week that the Dallas area is one of the top growth areas in the nation. Hopefully it will become a more bicycle friendly city and I see a few signs of that albeit it's pretty slow going on that front. |

Worked for a travel agency/tour operator a number of years ago and part of my duties involved driving a motorcoach. I drove a tour group from PA and we spent 2-3 days touring the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. My most vivid memory is how friendly everyone was. On the highways, at the hotel, people on the street....I was really impressed! |

My 14 yr old FINALLY got his BSA Cycling Merit Badge, took him on a 50 mile ride a couple months back...he just had to sit down and finish all the piddly paper work and Q&As :-)
