Was set to get another set of Vittoria Hypers for my fall/winter commuting... it looks like there's a few left here and there... but nothing on Vittoria's site... was it replaced by something? What fast 32/35 tire are people commuting on these days other than Hyper/Marathon/Pasela/Conti 4s?

Clement LGG is nice - only downside is that I find it wearing a little fast (faster than Rubino pro 3)

I used to use the Vittoria Hypers but found that they weren’t puncture resistant enough for the roads I ride. I replaced them with Vittoria Randonner Pros, 32mm, and have been very happy with them. They aren’t quite as fast or as plush as the Hypers were, but I’ve gone 3200 miles on this set without a single flat.

It hasn't been on their website for a whele now. But there's still plenty to buy. https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYVIVO...r-folding-tyre

That's too bad! I hope there is a replacement model. It scored first in a rolling resistance test, and there wasn't even a close second if I recall right.

Yea it was tops under the touring category.

However...the puncture resistance was about the same as the lightly protected race tires. Same ballpark as the GP4000s, which in 28mm measures more like 30+, and are very very comfy (and faster than the Hypers).

I've had three sets of Hypers and have never had a flat on them. I'll miss these. The Hyper is a great combination of fast rolling speed, plush riding comfort and sufficient flat protection.

I'm using the 700x30 Schwalbe G-One as a replacement for the700x32 Vittoria Hyper. The Schwalbe is about 32mm wide. A 35 and 38 size is available. See:https://www.merlincycles.com/schwalb...xoC05EQAvD_BwE

I also like the Panaracer Gravelking. the Gravelking is available is a 700x32 slick, but it's significantly smaller than the 700x32 Hyper.

I have the 700x32 Compass Stampede Pass. It's a good tire for a vintage or sport bike, but not as tough or as flat resistant at a much higher price.

I'm also using the 700x38 Hutchinson Override, but it's not going to be as durable as the Hyper, it's a high performance tire for rural roads and not for commuters.

I've been surprised that Vittoria doesn't offer an alternative.

I commuted on them nasty city traffic last winter and only had one flat... willing to sacrifice a couple flats here and there for the plush speed they offer... if I get an armored tire, might try the Soma Shikoro, heard good things.

Also wanting to try Compass tires but they are expensive as heck.

Agree, that's why I've got them on my commuter right now

I don't care about puncture protection. I could place well in a flat fixing race.

FWIW my rear Hyper got slashed and I replaced it with a regular Marathon. If the front gets damaged I’ll do the same. If I were riding alone I’d have taken another Hyper, they do ride nicely. But I have a kid in a rear seat and a trailer with babies to pull right now.

I'm not exactly slow either. But I do want a MINIMAL amount of flat protection. The hyper or GP4000s have more than enough. There is a HUGE difference between zero flat protection, and a minimal amount put in a tire designed for speed. In my experience...zero protection equals about 1 flat a week, while a super light, un-noticeable layer of protection nets about 1 flat or 2 a season. I'll take that tradeoff, but I WON'T go for a tire that is designed to be essentially flat proof while riding through a bombed out glass factory, like most commuting tires are, when the benefit you're getting is really 1 less flat every few months vs a super fast comfy GP4000s or voyager hyper.

Wow, you get a lot of flats. I think I get about two per year, and I don't have any protection.

Sorry to revive this thread put Planet X looks like they've run out of 32 Hypers. Ugh, should have bought like eight of these. Will be missed!

EDIT: I emailed Vittoria and they said this is the tire they recommend to replace the Hyper: The Revolution
