A) Occupation

Aerospace engineer

B) Commuting Distance

14 miles one way

C) When at work I a) shower b) change clothes/clean up c) don't change clothes and hope for the best/clean up

Shower. Company provides one shower (not in my building, but close), and lockers.

D) Where bike is parked

Either outdoors (safe area, don't worry about it being stolen) or just inside the entrance (out of the way corner that leads to a little-used utility closet).

E) Number of years commuting

This will be my second.

F) Year-round/part time commuter

Part time, it is cold and snowy here in Buffalo, NY!

F) Year-round/part time commuter - I guess year-round because I've managed to ride at least once in every month so far this year.

A) research analyst for a labor union

B) 15 miles round trip

C) At work I change some clothes/clean up; I wear bike shorts for the ride there and back, but change to civilian clothes for work

D) Bike is parked in a store room in back of office building where I work

E) 2008 was my first year commuting.

F) Seasonal commuter. Once the days started getting shorter in the fall, I felt unsafe peddling in the dark narrow space beside the rural state highway that makes up 75% of my commute. I have lights, reflective surfaces, etc; I just don't trust the drivers. I’ll start again this spring once the daylight is working for me.

A) Occupation

IT worker at a big telecommunications company.

B) Commuting Distance

10 miles each way.

C) When at work I a) shower b) change clothes/clean up c) don't change clothes and hope for the best/clean up

I don't do anything. I choose clothes that are suitable for cycling and office work. Yes, they exist. Wool dress trousers are surprisingly good for cycling in the winter. Linen trousers in the summer. There is a shower down the hall from me if I should need it, but I haven't yet. I also have a private office with a door, so I can change if I want. In case I get drenched, I keep a spare set of clothes in my office.

D) Where bike is parked

In my office!

E) Number of years commuting

I've been doing it on and off for a year now. I used to do it every day, many years ago, but since moving to the suburbs, my commute distances have been very long. I just got lucky and now work relatively close to home.

F) Year-round/part time commuter

My new goal is to do it every Tuesday and Thursday. As the weather gets warmer, I hope to increase that, but I don't have a specific goal.

Wow!!! I lot of science/tech/math/engineering/numbers types here.

I wonder why there is such a predominance of those type of workers. Very interesting.

As for me:

A) Law school student (3rd year)
B)1 mile in each direction to school and back.
C) I don't change. After a singe mile I don't even get my heart-rate up, nevermind getting sweaty. so there's no reason to change.
D) Bike is parked in the bike rack outside school.
E) Been commuting for a little over 1.5 years now.
F) Year round. I don't care if it's raining, snowing, -10F, or whatever else.
