try $40.00. I think it was a great deal. Some will bash the paying $40.00 idea but off with their heads I say... was well worth it to me!

my race bike is my commuter right now:

Here is a photo of my headlight. It's a Topeak Whitelite HP 3W. It puts off good light going 20(+/-) MPH. I'll get a shot of the light in action soon.

Good for you! I live in a rural area and that bike would be a rare find so I consider it a good investment. I love to see those classic Japanese bikes from the Golden Era being put back into active service. I am really glad that you did not butcher it and turn it into the ubiquitous "fixie". Bikes: Raleigh Detour 4.0 [beautiful cobalt blue]

Raleigh Detour 4.0 I believe, i'm really tired so I'm sure I'll come up with the proper specs tomorrow. I don't know much about the components, I just know it shifts smooth and takes me where I want to go and I love it.

I know she's not much, and it's a male frame, but god I love riding it everywhere. Still saving money for a rack and fenders. Need a new balaclava... so cooold.

(and I'm posting it here because I, well, commute with it! I just carry my belongings in a very large backpack.)

I agree. I'd take off that useless reflector and put the tail light there.

That, and raise the seatpost, unless that really is their (her?) best position for pedaling. Bernie's Cycling & Fitness needs to be more helpful than this (well, maybe that's the shop; it's what's on the water bottle, though ).

Oh, and Pezzle, don't read us wrong -- we just want to make sure that your bike is set up as good as possible. We've made our previous mistakes and are passing along what we've learned.

philly stealth commuter. drivetrain is undergoing overhaul/upgrade at the moment and that's why it's pictured with a 1x9 and a front derailer. n-gear and ring guard are pending. it had a triple originally and I found the bb spindle to be too wide and granny and large ring to be useless where I ride so I went for the simplicity of a 1x9.

Compared to the rest of the units at my disposal in my bicycle quiver. It's a beater.

Bikes: Specialized hardrock rigid

Mine with the upgrade

Mine has been subject to a recent upgrade. Formerly a fairly stock 2007 Specialized HardRock XC basic bike. Cheap wheels that did not role, heavy seatpost, bars and fork. Poor rim brakes and generally cheap and nasty mechanicals.

Some parts were reclaimed from my crash damaged Trek SU600 some parts were bough a while ago for another project.

New Mavic Crossride wheels
Joe's Tubeless system applied to older tyres (Schwalbe Marathon 26x2)
New Hayes V8 front Rotor
Hayes 9 disc brakes (rescued)
Trigon CF Blade fork with disc tabs
FSA orbit XLII headset (rescued)
ITM Carbon dressed stem (rescued)
Shimano XTR teflon gear cables
Bontrager Handlebars Cut down 3cm each side
Shimano 9 speed changer pods (rescued)
Eastern EA50 seat post

Ready for the build

Going Tubless

After 3 days riding

Bikes: Nothing super special...an E-bike that I love.

Not Officially Mine

I ate it on this bike going full speed. Best battle scars I've ever had because it's taught me not to ride so recklessly. I'm planning to work at a hospital that is 14 miles away from my house and I've made the journey only twice but I love this bike. It's not actually mine though...it's a demo and I take it from my dad's store to go places. I claim it as mine...it has it's battle scars of it's own from our journey together. Ha!

Surly Cross Check

Frame: 54cm Surly Cross Check

Cranks:105 50,39 10 spd

Derailleur Front: Ultegra 10spd

Derailleur Rear: Ultegra 12-27

Wheels: BoBo shimano w/ shimano hubs

Tires: IRC Urbanmaster street

Saddle: Brooks B-17 (tried to use WTB speed V but it hurt me in all kinds of crotch areas)
I have fenders and a rack to put on still, but it really easy to keep it ready for racing, also.
