I guess I can post a picture now. I'm pretty sure this is the bike and the setup I'll be using for the rest of the season ... (two fingers crossed)

Surley, LHT that is one year old now. I pulled the frame and fork out of the box and started chipping the decals off! O-yea, Surley racks and I make the bags.

Thanks for the nice comments-
Sanner Bicycles [newwaybikes.com] is a small builder of lugged steel frames in Palo Alto, Ca. Picked the completed by up from LBS on April 1, our weather has been a little uncooperative [rain, snow and wind] so I've only ridden a couple hundred km. So far a very comfortable and satisfying ride.

1978 Panasonic Tourist converted to SS. First time I've commuted in 6 months, lazy. Think I'm gonna
put drop bars on tomorrow to better battle the spring Kansas winds.

I like it, but I would love it with a SA 3 speed.
Very nice.
What kind of fenders are those?

hey, what's up, and how is my tin donkeys brother? still liking those drops?

i have had that pump for over a year, and it has never gotten in the way where i have it mounted now, it fits between the top tube and the crankset with no problems. i wrapped the tube with electrical tape to keep it from sliding down in the bracket. handy for quick top-ups and emergency repairs.

anaheim flash - my brother from a different mother ... :-) the drops are EXCELLENT! I had to get a steerer tube extender though because they were too low. Now they are just right. here's a picture. I actually raised them another 1/2" from this picture yesterday.

The fenders came on the bike. This is what it used to look like: https://equusbicycle.com/bike/panason...ourist5men.jpg.

A 3 speed would be great, but anything is better than the FFS it came with (which i destroyed pretty quickly).

Try it - you'll like it!

I got lucky with drops from an old steel Ross 10-speed; meaning: they were the right diamter to flip the Rapidfile shift/brake combo. I did have to replace the cables and housings too because the flip requires more cable looped up front by the bars. Also the steerer extender was a must for me. I am 6' tall with 34" legs.

Now I'm thinking about how long these Rapid fires will last and what would berequired to swap with other levers and shifters and do I have to change the brakes then. I'm thinking this setup should last the season. Hope I'm right! :-)

Jdmitch, does the big upper "jockey wheel" rotate with the steerer? Now that I can see it but I still don`t get it.

Bikes: Yes

As of today, this one is a commuter:

1977 (I think) Gitane Gypsy Sport -- acquired as a massive pile of rust, cleaned up (mostly) and converted to singlespeed.
