I'm a new member, and here is my new bike! It is a K2 Enemy CX bike. I absolutely adore it! It is also my first "nice" bike.

I have lowered the seat a bit and put on a set of basic platform pedals. I'm planning on adding some pink bar tape and a few other girly touches to make this bike look a little less threatening to the boys

I will be using it for my 18 mile round trip commute to work, as well as some fundraiser races and some bike tours.

Here she is. BF meet Babe, Babe meet BF.

Its an old Iron Horse At-50 modded into an really fun and utilitarian commuter. She isnt pretty, but she gets me through the mean streets of DC in tourist season rush hour like a dream.

Brooks B17
Moustache Bars
Shimano Barcons (friction mode)
Sugino XD600 165mm (48-36-26)
Trash picked Blackburn rack
Trash picked milk crate
Wald front basket
Schwalbe 2.00" BAs on Mavic 517 rims that are too small for tires that size

etc etc etc

My 72-73 Columbia Tourist V joined my stable of commuter bikes. A cruiser class bike, she rides really comfortable for one. I finally got her all tuned, oiled and lubed. She rides real quiet now. I wanna get a new chain and tires for her too!

Yes, I have apparently adapted this bike to be less practical.

Now I just need to grind off those nasty, useful eyelets on the rear dropout.

Just built this on the weekend. This is gonna be my townie/commuter from now on.

Made almost entirely out of stuff I had lying around. Frame, wheels, bottom bracket, brakes, stem, bars and pedals all found for free.
Saddle, post and cranks from a hand-me-down (also free). I replaced the threaded rear hub with a Sturmey Archer AW I found on eBay, fashioned a cable splicer out of a pinch bolt and a finishing nail so that I don't need the special double-ended shifter cables. I also McGuyvered a rough pulley for the cable and attached it to the seatpost binder.
I had a 5-speed SIS/friction shifter that has exactly the right spacing between 1st and 5th to match the SA hub's clutch travel (I made sure there was no chance of gear-grinding or slipping). Bar wrap was just left over.

I need to go find a good rack for the back, then I've got a wire basket someone gave me wine in a couple Christmases ago that's going on top of it (the rear brake is on the inside of the triangle because of interference with the shift cable and possibly with a rack) and hopefully I can rig up a front rack too. Also it needs some fenders and lights.

I like it a lot already, even though the frame feels as dead than the beaver I posted in the roadkill thread. The only things I paid for were the SA hub, a fresh shifter cable and the chain (technically I paid for the tires in the summer, too).

I love the sound of an AW.

Nice, yellowbeard. I recently put a similar bar setup on my resurrected childhood mtb and love it. They actually give a good amount of hand positions and are super comfy when I just wanna ride without thinking about being aero or fast or whatever.

These were taken Easter Sunday. A bunch of us decided to meet at Kiwanis Park for a picnic lunch/barbacue/general tomfoolery, since we didn't have anything else planned. The place was packed.

She's been good to me so far. I'm coming up on 2000 miles since purchasing her... should hit it tomorrow, in fact. 1000 miles this year. Whoo!

Tour gone commuter, try again..

This is a great thread to follow, I love seeing the mods, and love to see so many dedicated to riding that it's become more than a hobby. This is my first bike build up, but the inspiration flows from here everyday and I wouldn't be surprised if I have 3-5 bikes next year. I tried to post these before but it didn't work out, so I thought I'd try again. Everything I learned to put this baby together I learned from the forums, so thanks. I've got the best of the best for what I was seeking!
Stock 2008 Trek 520
bourthold stainless steel fenders
nitto campee nickel plated cromo front rack,
nitto "big back rack" nickel plated cromo
dinotte headlight, amber daylight and taillight, pro series
brook b17 cooper saddle
leather bar wrap and fender flap from velo orange (and a brass bell)
sigma wireless computer with cadence
not shown: air zound horn (as loud as a train), road morph pump, and alien II tool

Bikes: '80-something Super Le Tour, 2006 Trek 7100

Hey there all,

I've just started commuting 12 miles each way from Brooklyn to midtown Manhattan a couple of days ago. I can't figure how to get the pic of my bike up here - but here's the link on Flickr:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/sjubla/...7616633107888/

Got myself some new panniers/rack/fenders for the ride!

The only reason I have those huge panniers is because I volunteer with a therapeutic riding class and need to bring a change of clothes and boots for the barn, plus I bring my lunch and breakfast to work!

The rack bag is really cute in person, and has completely replaced my need for a purse....

Specialized sirrus Pro carbon

Hi, this is my commuter... an I'm proud of ...

It weights 8,7kg all inclusive, full carbon frame (like the Roubaix raceframes), S-ram Rival double tap 10-speed, ultegra cassette
Dura Ace WH 7850 C24 CL alu carbon clinchers (Titan body)

I live in Belgium and I live about 60km from where I work in a region with a lot of hills... so with this bike I don't waste a lot of time on the road...

It has the same drive qualities as my racebike and is even more comfortable:

Hauled a load of tools and other goodies to the office today to help folks get their bikes in working order during lunch today. The Misfit handled the load with ease, and is quickly becoming my favorite bike for 'round town riding.

Noted.

The white bike is a 1980 Raleigh Saffron that I think was built in Italy due to it's bottom bracket shell and the blue bike is a 1973 Raleigh Fireball that I restored last year for my youngest daughter... they love their English 3 speeds.

Interesting way of getting the lights under the handlebar bag. How did you do that?
