This is my 1992 TREK 800 Antelope turned into a 700c rims Commuter and Touring Bike!

Here is the frame, now with 700c brake bosses.

Some upgrades are coming.
Surly Cross Check fork, new cr-mo stem, and new saddle.

Ride it to University, 5km away from home.

I posted a picture of this quite some time back. But it's changed a good bit since then.
My 2009 Surly LHT. Was using it to commute on. Never really racked up a whole lot of miles on it, or REALLY enjoyed the way it rides.
It's just sitting now, waiting to be sold.

This is a Raleigh Record I just finished converting to hybrid commuter today for my wife. She wanted something better than her Schwinn Varsity 10speed cruiser to commute on. Its from the 80's and purple how could she ask for more? =)

It needs some final adjustments and trimming, but its raining so I am waiting for her to ride it.

Hi all. Been looking at the site for a long time and finally decided to jump in.

I've been bike commuting for about two and a half years, Brooklyn to Columbus Circle in Manhattan in all four seasons. My ride is about 20 mi. roundtrip but variable depending on the route I take. I've put somewhere around 5,500 mi. on this C600 but don't know exactly due to having gone without a computer for some intervals.

The only thing I need to do is find a seat bag that is small enough not to interfere with the Topeak MTX rack or bag. Sometimes, I don't need the big bag and just want the little seat bag.

Jeremy - Really sweet looking bike... I'd consider running full fenders as your bike's drive will thank you for it as will people who are following you in the rain.

Just installed the fenders on my new old Pug as she was looking pretty naked and did not look right without her proper skirts on.

You could try a frame bag instead of a seat bag, or stuff your most important gear into an old water bottle. I've been riding with a 750ml bottle for a while, it fits all gear needed to repair a tube, a spare tube and a MacGyver tool.

I've been thinking about this. I didn't think of the protection to the drive, and it is a good point. Any idea where I can get some proper fenders? On the other hand, I'm not sure I have the right mounting points for proper fenders. I don't see any more holes to mount anything else to. By the way, I do like your Peugot and deeridiot's Raleigh. Both very classy.

Both good ideas! I found a seat/handlebar bag at amazon that would use my Brooks' lugs that were designed for bags. Also, I found this small frame bag at performancecycle.com that might work.

The seat bag would be mounted higher, but may still be too big when the tail bag is on. The frame bag may be too small. *sigh* that is the problem with shopping online. What do you think?

Your bike looks okay in the rear as the fender stays could share mounting space with the rack... seems like the Tricross has no fork mounts so you would need to use p clips.

I like Planet Bike fenders a good deal as well as Zefals which have have served me quite well.

Tricross definitely has fender eyelets.

A GT Traffic 4.0. Nothing super fancy but it gets me around fast enough. I don't usually have the bags when I go to work but they come in handy during the rainy season. The wife and I were on a picnic when she took this picture.

A bike can't be a called a commuter unless it has fenders... these are OEM Peugeot fenders which are light (aluminium) and quite a solid, rattle free fit.

Their stock fittings don't work with modern frames as the adjustment point is at the eyelet and they use a much heavier fender rod but they can be modified... the top of the fender also lacks a brake tab as they were bolted to the seat stay bridge but you can add an aftermarket clamp / clip as I did.

I think the reason I like this thread so much is the fenders... most bikes look naked without them.

"Nothing fancy" looks like a pretty nice bike...

That is a sweet looking ride... as I have said before the bikes in this thread tend to be made of all kinds of awesome and think the appeal is knowing they aren't toys and work hard for their living.

Installed my rack last night and am so impressed with how Peugeot integrated their fenders and racks... I had to use p clips at the seat stay as my bike was not fitted with braze ons like a UE model is but with those the fender has 5 mounting points to the frame and there is a fender hanger integrated into the rack for a 6th.

The rear triangle actually got a good deal stiffer after the rack was installed as the 126mm wheel that took a little springing of the stays to fit before took a little more effort to squeeze in and a lot of that flex vanished.

Now I can carry my my panniers and with temps hitting 80f and above one does to want to carry a backpack.

Sixty Fiver, just wanted to say thanks for posting all these awesome bikes. I also agree with you - fenders (and a rack) on a bike is just great to see. I love seeing "working" bikes.

That said, I am also insanely jealous of your bikes and bike mechanic skills

It just takes practice... the fact I do this for part of my living probably helps as you get to see and work on a great number of different bikes.

My 1983 Trek 500 with fenders, lights, rack. The rack is a heavy-duty Burley Moose rack for pulling the Kazoo kid trailer. Drivetrain is converted to 8-speed Sora with bar-end shifters. Shimano Campus spd+platform pedals.
