Yep, I got them for several reasons, first they are cheaper to outfit than drop bars(due to using the components that were on the flat bar) while offering more hand positions. I do find that I can rest my arms on the lower bar while holding onto the upper bar giving a similar effect to the drops though. The other is that I wanted the bars shifted back so I could have a little bit more up-right riding position that is more comfortable for me.

I snapped a photo of my frankenbike yesterday before I removed the crate. It was there for shopping in snowy weather when a trailer might be problematic. I didn't like it though: it made the bike sensitive to winds. I also took the studded tires off. Wow! What a difference!

Finally got a study break, so I decided to post the latest pics of my commuter:

Most recent upgrades include the Ergon GP1 grips, Topeak MTX TrunkBag EX, Abus UGH 02 bracket system (for mounting my u-lock), Cayeye HL-EL530 headlight (mounted on a Busch & Müller Ixon Speed fork crown mount), and a Busch & Müller Cycle Star 901/1 mirror.

Thats alot more sentiment than I have with any of my bikes since I haven't had them that long. I am getting attached to my Trek Commuter though. My parents still have their bikes from when they were teenagers. I'll have to fix them up one of these days.
Fizzaly have you sold it yet or could you just not go through with it? =)

Not really though i think my g/f is ready to kill me for having the kitchen filled up with bikes for the last 6months when i told her it would only be for a week or two

Bikes: To many to list...
Yey for selling stuff, but I bet you were a bit sad to see it go. My wife has been so longsuffering with all the crap in the basement and garage and sometimes the dining room. I have made some decent cash fixing and selling bikes so she realizes its help us out, but its too much. Hopefully you can keep from getting too much stuff. I just sold that Trek 3700 frame tonight so it didn't take long. I got $20 for the frame and the seat post. I am pretty much thrilled its gone.

Beautiful bikes, everyone! It makes me want to sell my car every time I look through this thread.
Here's what I just picked up, and will be putting on my Nishiki MTB:

The bamboo fenders don't seem to have the noise/rattle odf other fenders I run, and they are just wide enough to do the job.

My Commuter BIkes
My Primary commuter is built up like this:

Stats:
1980's Lotus Eclair Touring (Cutthroats Bike Club Hand-me-down)
Shimano Bio-Pace Triple crank (not into Bio-pace but I'll replace the rings when they are shot)
Chris King Headset
35c Randonneur Touring Vittoria Rubber
Alloy Araya mismatched Rims (36 spoke) I got for cheap (like $10 I think)
Currently a Black Brooks B17 (that's a Cardiff in the photo....avoid them they suck)
Velo Orange Hammered Fenders (not in photo, I would go back to the black plastic fenders if they fit the 35c tires, more support from the stays than the VO's)
Silver Bar End Shifters
Nitto Albatross Bars
2 liter bottle cap on the lowrider mount to hold my lighting system (lights suck need to find an upgrade there)
Axiom Streamliner Rack (nice piece too!)
A Civia/Ortlieb pannier I got on discount as a returned item
Brass Bell
Cannondale Saddlebag to hold tools, patch kit, etc (rotates between bikes depending on which one I am using that day)
My Secondary Commuter/ Randonneuring Bike is:

It's a Nashbar Toure frame from the 80's that I had powder coated with many of the little bits powder coated to match.
Yeah, that's a Nashbar front Rack to match
Mavic 36 spoke A119 Rims laced to a Shimano 105 hub out back and a 1st Generation Dura Ace Hub up front all clad in Rivendell/Panaracer Ruffy Tuffy Tires
I'm rocking a Sugino RD2 (I think) crank with Salsa Rings but I want to change out the inner ring to a 34T (I think it is 36 now)
Brooks B17
Silver Bar End Shifters
old school Shimano Canti brakes that came with the frame
a nitto Technomic Stem (not in photo)
Chris King headset
Cane Creek levers
A Mini Mag light with a 1 Watt LED I had powder coated to match when I got everything else done.....I'm liking it!

Trekking bars FTW!!!
That bike is right in just so many ways... love it, Adam. Have you considered a Wald basket instead of the plastic crate?
Great looking bike! Not too often you see cruiser bars on commuters. Good job, I bet it's comfy!

Yeah I love the Albatross Bars...they are a little wide at first but being able to see over traffic makes up for having to watch out for side mirrors!

Bikes: The always reliable kuwie
Scored a new back wheel for the kuwie, I was going to buy a whole new wheelset but I really didn't want to because the front wheel is still in good shape. I was at the co-op today just looking around and saw this hanging, XT hub with Alex adventurer rim for 40 bucks, I mean really the spokes cost that much
The hub and spokes wont match the front but I don't care, this wheel will be much stronger than the one its replacing, and is about exactly what I wanted.

The new wheel doesn't look to bad on the kuwie, it's just a lot cleaner than everything else on the bike

The old back wheel is toast I believe, most the spokes on the drive side have been eaten through from a chain slip a while back, and the last few weeks the free hub has been giving out. This morning it was more like a fixed gear than a free hub. Im gonna tear the wheel down and if i can fix the freehub i may rebuild and use it on something else. This wheel got me about 6k miles (hard miles
)
