My goodness that's pretty!! Wow. I LOVE the fenders and front rack, what a beauty. Our grocery and kid-toting bike is my previous commuter, so I can't justify a replacement, but I'm GREEN with envy, get it?

Great side visibility! What are the lighted wires, and how are they powered?

My wife, daughter and I rode to dinner the other evening. I had just finished converting my wifes old specialized over to a SS, and I think she will ride more often now that all she has to do is pedal.

We're getting better at picking that stuff up.

That was indeed some great commentary! Looks good, too; IMHO the more like a xmas tree I appear to be, the less chance there is
of me getting run over. I once had a guy pull up beside me a stoplight and declare, "I could see you from a mile away!" My response
was, "That's sort of the point, isn't it?"

Bikeglow, uses 2 AAs. No where near as bright as the side blinkies that you're running, though. Your wife is correct, by the way, you do look a little like Xmas. Must make for a merry ride.

Got a bit of work done with the giant, now its truly yet another drop bar MTB, im really liking how its turning out so far the frame is big for me though i might have to get a short stem, and thats about as high as im gonna be able to go with the seat, who knew im 5'9" riding a 21.5" frame. So far with having to buy new levers seat and front rim all in all im into this bike for a tad over 30bucks, about the only thing else i need is some grip tape which i have two rolls of mismatching UGLY tape im gonna use for now that my LBS gave me, im hoping to have it done by this weekend, as the weather guessers are thinking snow by next wed (doubtful)

Bikes: See my sig...

After what must have been something like 25,000 km that scruffy blue bar tape had to go... thinking that the black pulls everything together.

With winter approaching it will soon be time to hang up a good number of bikes and as my touring bike she has been retired from hard winter duty but I thought we could commute together until things get ugly and then she will be off the to the frame shop for some custom racks.

I'm loving this set up, but I'm thinking about options to change the fender and rack attachment. The bike, oddly, has rear rack eyelets on the top of the seat stays, but not on the dropouts. So, I had to use PB's EZ Speed fenders that attach with brackets to the seat stays, rather than to the dropouts. I also have to use the Topeak BeamRack for the same reason. Has anyone attached a more traditional rack and fenders to a bike without eyelets on the dropouts? If so, how did you do it? I would like to have the stability of that kind of rack. If you have done it, please include a photo and links to relevant parts.

QuakerProf, look at the Cannondale directly above your post.

That Cannondale has a mounting eyelet on the rear dropout, which is what the 2011 Dr.Fine is lacking.

QuakerProf, you could use p-clamps to mount a rack onto your seat stays. Alternately, it seems like you could use the fastening bolts for your sliding dropouts as mounting points, if you ran a longer bolt and some spacers.

QuakerProf, I had the same problem with my mountain bike. See https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...tobecane-700HT for the fix. (The Old Man Mountain rack is fixed with a longer skewer and p-clamps)

Ah, ok. The rack itself looks like one of the Axiom racks (one of the models is the Streamliner, if I remember right) that mounts to the skewer for the rear wheel. It's what I would need to use for my road bike, for example.

Sweet ride! I was just informed that I *may* or *may not* be receiving a blue R20 with white accents for my 30th bday in January If this actually happens, it may end up as my preferred commuter someday, so it's cool to see someone else's Twenty kitted out for that purpose.

Unfortunately, the Alfine hub he's running has a solid axle, so changing out the skewer isn't an option. Which is a bummer, because those Old Man Mountain racks are solid; I've got one on the front of my ride.

The Axiom rack that BarrackSi posted looks like it would work with the Alfine, plus it looks like it would clear the disc brake nicely and gives plenty of heel clearance for panniers. It's weird that Kona would choose to remove rear rack mounts from a bicycle that they're marketing as a commuter. The 2010 Dr.Fine had a mounting eyelet on the rear dropout, but the 2011 doesn't.
