Restored to it's original 18 speed glory albeit with nicer XT hubs and Araya RM20 wheels, XT crank with Biopace rings (knees love these) and am running a few watts of light up front to light my way. http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...3&d=1316219129 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...5&d=1316219166 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...2&d=1316219112 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=219032http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=219033http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=219034http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=219035 |

Where's the frame??? All I see are wheels and a bunch of bags...
I know everyone is different, and we all have our own wants and needs. Local weather might dictate your load, for example. I live in South Carolina, where the weather is generally mild. Elsewhere, who knows? I think the derailleur cover is a pretty cool idea, however! |
That was just a camouflage joke...

Long live the Kuwie, as always it's an awesome bike. I got excited for a bit as someone on Boise's craigslist has a 87' kuwie Panther same as mine listed for 30 bucks all original, but I called and it's a 16" frame wayyy to small.
It is doing well for a 22 year old bicycle that was in pretty scruffy shape when I got it as a frame and fork and think I will use it for my next metric ride to see my mom as it should tour just as well as it's younger sister. Also wanted to set up a Shimano drive train as most of my bikes are Suntour equipped and the light action deraileur and XT friction thumbies work marvelously. |

And on to my recently recommissioned hooptie, http://i53.tinypic.com/1ynzba.jpg Got it for my christmas when I was 12, and just dug it out of my dads garage. Needs a back rack like the one above, fenders and a few bits here and there. Final plan is to be my mule, grocery getter etc |
Here's my bike (and part of my commute). Hopefully you can actually see the bike in the picture this time.

The Velominati are an amusing bunch, with their rules. If coordination is a true concern then this bike doesn't have any problems that a set of gumwalls can't fix.

Coordination counts, of course. It is a distinct element of "style."

Love the work bench too.
It has developed quite a patina from tens of thousands of hours of use. |

Style, eh? Thanks, guys.
If that is "slavery" - give me my seat at the oars, baby! |

Sounds like slavery to me.
Style, on the other hand, gives you options and choice. It is one of the few places where you can genuinely START a trend with nothing more than courage and "that which moves you..." and a bit of coordination. |

I went to the bank between classes today and I hitched my bike up in front of my favorite burned out building in Albany. Around noon it looks rather spectacular with the sun shining out the windows because it has no roof. Some time I'll take a picture of the whole thing and post it here.

Well, actually slavery is more like being chained to oars, forced to row a galley - until you die.

Finished putting the Hercules 3 speed together and rode her into work:

Excellent. In that case I recommend that the guy disregards velomanati's asinine 'rule 8' and use whatever saddle, tape and tire combo he wants.

I'm not sure if I posted my old commuter in this thread, but here's my new-ish ride since I'm back in school with a short 6mi round trip. I jumped on the 29er bandwagon, picked up this Dawes, and can now say I prefer my 26ers whether fully rigid or hard tail. The bike was relatively cheap, but decent enough it'll be able to stand up to a beating without worry.
The only things I've added are a BB7 and bar ends I had around, a superflash rear light, and a couple of lights up front. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC_0003.jpg |

Are you referring to the bike or the motorbike? ;) Both look equally good for commuting.

I can't pinpoint exactly what I like so much about it, but that's a really good looking bike. I need to pick up some fenders before winter arrives.
It does rides so nice too. This bike turned me into vintage Bianchi fan. |
First ride was the commute home from the co-op... built up the bike this afternoon and am looking forward to some coasting action.
