Thanks! Those are just the Freddy Fenders extremes. I like them, they work fine. Single speed isn't for everyone. Here in Reno/Sparks, its pretty flat unless you try to get out of town.

my '93 GT Tequesta, which has served me like a trooper. The wheels and tires have both been replaced several times, as has the seat post and saddle. The original grips vanished loooooong ago, and that big bar has been taped forever.





I can't count the number of miles on this bike, and it's served me well. I've ridden sand pits, dirt trails, fields, every kind of road, snow...everything. It needs new cables, new rims, new tires, a new chain, a new seat, serious adjustment (a recent development as of last week: it won't stay in gear on the front rings any more) and a lot of cleaning. I'd like to replace some of the lower end components. I know that's probably silly, but I have a sentimental attachment!

Just a week ago, I ordered a Cannondale BBU, and I'll have that sometime this week. that will replace this as my medium range rider. I'm going to take that opportunity...this bike will get stripped down, carefully cleaned, the paint touched up, possibly some of the decals lifted, and then I'm going to spend more than it's probably worth to have the old bull spinning again.

It doesn't always sport the neons. That was for a moonlight classic ride in Denver.
1986 Rockhopper all original except the slimed tubes, flame grips, turbo seat, and the NOS FarmerJohn Cousins. Yep, even the chain is original!

Removable fenders and a weird rack on the back. 100 miles a week.
Currenlty being replaced by a $50 1987 Jamis Diablo All original except seat and rear tire. Added a $2 blackburn rack, fenders, and dice vavle caps 'cause that is how I roll.


Here is the Diablo on one of the fun singletrack parts of my commute. Rollin' on the ol' Denver and Rio Grande railroad bed. The black dirt is actually cinders.

Hello (today) bodged-on high-rise rack (more screws missing from what the LBS sold me than a flat-pack wardrobe, no, it is actually bolted on, not held on with the bungie) and no more silly stickers (visible screwed up atop saddle.)

Note colour co-ordinated pump allegedly capable of 90psi, and detachable front shrubbery.

Grim lycra-clad racing freaks can say what they like about my pauper's faux racer. I can now keep up with them and say it right back. - Taller gearing coming soon, so I can overtake them and fart in their general direction too.

I took the front and rear racks, wald folding baskets and my extra headlight off of the Marin today. I know it's not a light bike even with the aluminum frame, but man what a difference!! I still have the fenders and a few other extra things on it but the racks and baskets won't be needed for the TDC sunday and I won't need them before then. Now I know why I fell in love with this bike.

I don't know why I didn't do this last year when I got my bike.

Stock Cross Check Complete w Brooks Professional and natural cork tape for style. Various Lights including Dinotte 5w. Bags are both from nashbar. Reflective tape on fenders is black, and tape on rims/cranks is silver, therefore mostly invisible in normal light.

Nothing fancy, I'm not a bike builder at all. I really would like to buy a hub w internal gears, and a single-speed front crank w chain guard.

The only thing I don't like is that I paid so much that I worry too much when leaving it outside a bar or theatre or store (when i ride to work I can leave it in our warehouse). That and the fact that it eats pants if I dont tuck them into my socks

Well, I got the badboyultra. First stop, hair dryer land. I'm takin off some decals. Not all of them...I kind of like the urban camo Cannondale, and I'm kind of proud of the "Made in the USA" sticker. The rest might go though.

One thing, it seems to shift rough (rougher even than the tequesta's relatively cheap Exage SIS rapidfires). Is there a break-in period associated with the shifters, or does it need adjusted?




I am kind of a fata$$, so the hoss works for its money.

Looks like he took the fender mounting bracket, moved it to the center of the fender and used it to attach a blinkie. A nice simple solution.

Yeah, thats cool....but I wasn't asking him about the light blinkie, or how it was mounted.
I was asking him about his saddle bag, and water bottle, and if he could fit a U-lock in the bag or not.

Well, after a week of sabatical from work I re-commuterized my bike today. I really liked riding it around semi-stripped. Oh well. all that weight adds to the workout. So, on went the steel rear rack and wald folding baskets again. I love them and I hate them at the same time.
