A tad chilly. Temps in the upper 30s/low 40s. Sun just coming up. The Adirondacks are pretty this time of year. I wore my nylon jacket, but still just shorts on the legs. I get hot easily. As it was, I unzipped the jacket after a couple of miles.

I felt slow. I had a huge Brazilian feast (lots of spicy salty bbq meat) last night and I guess I'm not properly wired for a tidal wave of animal flesh. Still, one roadie came out behind me but didn't keep up, and I caught another guy on an older tourer doing 16MPH so I just followed him. We passed a woman riding a sweet red cruiser with white flowers painted on the frame.

It's getting "cold" here in the morning- temp was about 60- and already the bike commuters are thinning out. I one other rider in 17 miles; that was it.

Good ride in this morning at 48F and party cloudy with no wind. I'm back on the recumbent today. I was able to get the wheel problem taken care of this weekend. It's almost like I had to get used to it again this morning because I've been off it for about 2 weeks.

Short quick trip in the dark. It's about 10C/52F this morning for the ride in the dark. I had thanksgiving dinner with my family last night and ate really well. With the tank full and a long weekend, I felt really strong for the climb up Burnaby Mountain this morning. I didn't feel like stopping when I got to the top, but alas, I have to pay the bills.

I'm amazed that people stop commuting by bike when it's 60- in my mind, the 60s are almost the perfect temperature for bike commuting. I can handle it in the mid 90s with high humidity and below freezing (as long as it isn't snowy on the roads), but 60 seems almost ideal to me. It was in the mid 50s here this morning, so I wore bike shorts and a sleeveless running t-shirt- and I was definitely completely comfortable.

That made me laugh. There's a good chance we (my wife, our baby who is due in April, plus our greyhound and our cat) will be moving to Houston in June or July. I'm more worried about learning to deal with the heat in the summer than dealing with the cold here in the winter. It's easy to add more layers, but common decency requires that I only take off so many.

I'm going to guess then that you work at SFU?

Hah. Yeah, there's only so many layers!

South Texas heat can be tough. I grew up in both Houston and the Texas countryside a little north of there. It's hot, especially July, August & early Sept, but the winters are fabulous for outdoor exercise. I'd assume the temp change to the 100+ temps would be somewhat like my experience living in the Marianas Islands for a couple of years. The first two months are obscenely hot, especially with little to no power thanks to typhoons, and then ya just get used to it. Drink obscene amounts of water and it helps, up here in Ohio I don't have to hydrate like Texas or the islands.

5C/41F, sunny and calm. Noticeably chillier in the valley this morning. I managed to contract a cold from somewhere, so my snot-rocket count was up a bit. Otherwise uneventful.

Nice cool dark morning ride down the hill in the morning (14 miles). Got on train station a little too early (forgot H2O and went a little faster so I can buy it from vending machine)... nice train ride to work. Not so nice ride to work from station (2 miles). Some less then sensible person just had to park their car on bike lane going up the ramp. It jutted out about half on to the lane and I had to wait for 8 cars/buses to pass us by and I had to pass him on his left as he decided to just get rolling. I actually wish there was police officer there today... I've seen people getting tickets for stopping their car before right on the spot. Their time shall come.

On the campus yes. A wonderful place to work and great for hill work, but terribly hard to convince co-workers to try bike commuting...

Perfect morning here in DC, dry, no head wind at all, and about 60-ish I think. A wee bit sore getting on my bike after the humbling Chicago Marathon experience!

Agree that 60s is perfect riding weather. Probably 53F this morning, stopped to pump the tires at a gas station. nice ride in. Only saw one car run a 3-way stop sign intersection which is pretty good for a 20 km ride.

Gorgeous morning here... the commute to my shop is only about 30 steps (on a good day) but had to make a house call and got out for a nice ride and got to test the new brake set up on my winter bike which got transformed from a fixed gear to a 3 speed yesterday.

Hub is smooth but cranky about shifting into first... at 45 years old it is just like me in that it moves but sometimes complains a little.

Beautiful commute home at 65F and sunny with winds from the N @ 11mph. Had to deal with some pretty bad headwinds on one part of the commute. The wind wasn't so bad but the gusts made it difficult. Also had to deal with some construction where they are finally repairing one of the roads on my commute. Right now the road is all ripped up and getting ready to be paved.

61f when I left. Great ride in now that I can see (broke out the bright headlight). Ride home some rain snuck in unexpectedly that wasn't predicted till early tomorrow. I got very lucky and was able to get home between showers. Hit the porch just as it started to drizzle.

My new riding glasses from Zenni were waiting for me when I got home. Looks like they will do the job. Actually listed as safety glasses. Wrap around much farther then my regular glasses. Should help with the winter wind. I am hoping that the prescription insert will work with one of the multi lens offerings from Performance.

I'm glad I made it home. My commutes are largely uneventful, but today, I counted six close encounters with vehicles. Admittedly, most were my own fault, either for not paying attention (almost rear-ended a bus, almost got right hooked while filtering) or taking risks (unsafe lane change, unsafe left turn into the path of a right-turning vehicle). Only one incident involved a complete jerk of a driver who nearly ran me down in a crosswalk (yes, I had dismounted and was walking beside my bike). And I got buzzed, but I take partial blame for that because I queue jumped after lane splitting and ticked someone off.

Whew! A ride almost worthy of JoeyBike, except no run red lights. My guardian angel will sleep well tonight. And I'll try to be more careful tomorrow!

Excellent ride home. Put a few extra miles in, including a stop at a bar that opened recently. Enjoyed a $1.50 PBR pint and a burger with chicken-fried bacon (oddly called the "Driving Miss Daisy") while I watched the first couple inning of the Texas Rangers game. Rode the rest of the way home with strong finish (that burger must be like fried chicken or 5-Hour Energy drinks) and caught the rest of the game in which the Ranges became the final Major League franchise to win a playoff series.

And... the weather was like the werewolf in London's hair: Perfect.

Kept up with a pack of road bikes on a fat-tired Rockhopper. Would've beaten the only one who didn't have to turn off but there was a crowded stop sign and I ended up getting dropped by the girl on the Cannondale.

Noticeably cooler today. Had a bloke in a van wait for me to pass a line of parked cars which was slightly unexpected. Gave him a friendly wave as I whizzed down the hill past him. The commute seemed easier today, probably after pumping up my tyres properly (went from 2 to 4 bars of pressure) though I'm glad I don't have skinny road tyres though as the roads were as bumpy as ever.

It was 10 f cooler today than yesterday at 49 F ( 9 C). Tomorrow we are promised even cooler temps and the wet stuff. This is a short week for me, and that is always a good thing. I'll be cycling closer to the ocean this weekend in cooler temps, but sun, and it is important to enjoy evey warm weekend before it drops below freezing again.

Same upper 30s and clothing as yesterday, no wind. The sun was rising, and lighting up the eastern side of the Adirondack Mountains. They were all purple and it sure looked like the top of Whiteface was, well, white.

I did wear gloves today, but I removed them before I got to work.

Dang. The technical term for this is "having a bad day." Here's to rapid healing.
