Mid 20's on the way in today. Coldest day for me in a long time... It was cold enough to make it tougher to pull my brake levers - Rival brifters.
Mid-40's on the way home with sun. Glad I toughed it out on a Friday.

what a great day to ride
Had the best ride today, it was cold..25 but the rodes are dry and only partially covered by ice so I was able to ride my single speed. I only had to take a backpack today as it was a race day which means lunch and a few essentials. Spent 4 and a half hours on the snow watching kids ski and long bus ride home and then because I was late getting to work I had to fly home which was easy on the single speed. Forgot how much I love that bike.

Cold, Cold and Cold
Hi Everyone, just started commuting a week ago and today was my 5th commute. Only 10 miles round trip.
Today was very very very cold! -6 when I left the house this morning, only +6 on the way home. Commute was fine though, people probably thought I was nuts and most of my coworkers did as well. Oh well, I'm having a great time!

Not much commute for me today, because i gonna have 190km ride tomorrow in "Suanthon-Gold City 2011".(one of the most popular bicycle event in Thailand)
Have to remove bag and fenders away to reduce weight, I hope my body will be able to endure this race.

I didn't ride this past week due to some pulled muscles. I'm just about back to normal so I'll be riding again next week. I'm going to limit myself to 3 days a week and maybe some weekend riding. I only have classes MWF so I don't need to be at school Tuesday or Thursday.
The forecast for the upcoming week looks excellent, with temperatures between -10C and -1C. Time to swap pedals again and go back to clipless. There hasn't been much snow this week so the MUP should be in good shape.

Just plain clear and cold 8 F ( -13 C). Tomorrow looks like some moderation, and we should be getting above freezing. Of course some stuff comes with that change. I won't know what it is until I get up on Wed.

Quite cold 15-18 degrees (-9 -7) but thankfully almost no wind at all. Really quite a nice ride except for the tingly toes.
Sunday night tire inflation and chain cleaning made a difference...and two drops of oil into my Kryptonite lock and the thing is back to brand new. All that winter water had the locking mechanism rusted up.

Some clouds rolled in overnight and kept the temperatures from dipping down too low, so it was only in the mid-20s riding to work this morning. Yesterday it got down to about 16 F. The forecasters are calling for another potential winter storm here on Tuesday night - Wednesday, but it might just turn out to be cold rain. Although I like snow, I'm hoping for the rain since we've already had more than our usual share of snow for winter. That, and the roads stayed messed up for days afterwards. I might still be able to top 500 miles in January if we don't get any more snow or sleet, but no way if we get more ice.

Temp in the low to mid 20's. About a 1/2" of snow, but the roads were in decent shape. First real commute on snow. Had to pay more attention to braking and turning. Really not a bad commute.

-27C/-17F, coldest day of the year so far. Wore my down jacket, wool tights and rain pants again like last Monday. Since my nose was cold last time, I pulled my neck gaiter halfway over my mouth and that worked out pretty well. My glasses didn't fog up (not even when I walked inside the building), but I did use some wd40 as a makeshift anti-fogging spray.
Edit: though this is about as cold as it gets in Montreal. I think the coldest it's gotten in the last 20 years is -32C/-25F.

5F this morning. Today was the first day this year I wore the balaclava. Hopefully tomorrow's return to above freezing temps isn't just a rumor.

Been off the bike for the last two weeks due to the snow and ice on the streets.
Saw a commuter on my way to work this morning and felt a twinge of guilt. I'm going to get back on the bike tomorrow. I'll just need to be extra careful on the side streets that are still mostly snow-packed.

First commute since about mid December, and man was it challenging. -11F and sunny with winds from the NE @ 3mph. This is definitely the coldest commute I've ever had. I was well dressed, but still hope I never have to ride in temps this cold again. I was definitely very slow. Last semester on a slow day I would average 14mph. This morning my average was 11.6mph.
I also took a minor fall on a side street that had ice underneath some snow. My studded tires were no match for that. I was alright, but I broke my mirror and light mount off my bike. Unfortunately I have no way to fix them here, so I'm probably gonna end up asking my friend for a ride. If I didn't break those things, I would have no problems riding home. My mirror is important, but I definitely need my light mount because it will be dark when I'll be riding home. I plan to fix those ASAP and be back on the road commuting tomorrow.

I had a great commute this morning, the first decent distance I've ridden in a couple of weeks, probably 18 mile round trip. Wichita got a nice snowfall 2 weeks ago and I got to commute about 5 miles round that day, but then we had ice on and off after that so I've just ridden short distances or driven since then.
My job has me going to different sites around town for each day, and I have to be presentable as I check into the front office. That's been a challenge compared to my old job where I had the server room to change in. So its riding in street clothes and trying not to sweat too much. I love my new long sleeve wool undershirts, that makes it much easier. With it being 17 degrees this morning, I had to bundle up (but not too much!) I wore my standard dockers and polo shirt, with a cotton cardigan topped by my great old supplex nylon shell. I use a fleece scarf around my neck up to my chin (under my helmet strap) and a fleece cap. I bought but didn't like a windproof cap a few years ago, just recently got the idea to cut it up and use a section as a helmet liner, works well. I wore my windproof face covering today, that kept me plenty warm and allowed me to breathe warm air. I had modified this, adding some fleece in front of the mouth opening, to filter and warm the air before it came in.
Glasses fogged quite a bit but that's not too big of a deal. I had lights galore on my Surly LHT, helmet mounted rear blinkie and front spot, along with bike mounted blinkies front and rear and a 6v headlamp. No problem with cars, it was just a pleasant ride as the sun came up in my rear view mirror and I rode along some nice roads. Most of it was along my former commuting route, but the city recently adding bike lanes to a significant part of the route, nice!
I was fairly presentable as I got here, but one of the kids noticed when I went to write on the board that I had a heart shaped spot on my back from sweat. They thought it was cute that it was shaped like a heart. Just one of the costs of commuting!

Felt like I was catching cold (my 2 kids have it bad) yesterday. Barely woke up on alarm, looked at phone for temp... reading 28f... (very low for where I live).
Got ready took off noticing how it is slightly chillier than usual (36-40f as of late). While riding I didn't have to unzip much of my jacket. By the time I was done with the about 2 hour routine into office (50 minute bike + 1 hour train + 5 minute bike), I think I knocked out the cold.

Weather Channel said 11F/-11C when I left home, though the NWS website shows it was 18F/-8C. Either way, perhaps the coldest commute of the year so far. But with the sun shining and a lack of wind, I felt fine. Mid-week storm could cause problems in a couple days... mix of rain and snow forecast and overnight temps below freezing threaten to ice over the MUP. Fingers crossed it won't happen!
New bike frame should be ordered today or tomorrow. Hoping that I'll have the LHT built up and ready to go by mid-February!

First time riding in over a week, and it was awfully good to be back on the bike! As many have mentioned, it was cold this morning. My face felt it through the balaclava, and the parts of me that were exposed really felt it. But within a few miles, I was warm enough, and even my feet didn't get too cold. The good news is that I didn't overheat at any point ;-)
Looks like it will be warming up tomorrow.

Slept in a bit this morning - I got up at 6 to get ready, considered the fact that I had only had 4-5 hours sleep, and sent an e-mail to the office to let them know I'd be getting in sometime mid-morning (we normally start around 8). I work in a pretty casual office environmet at the moment, so that is a nice bonus.
The sun was in full blue sky by the time I got on the bike at 9:30, and the air was about 19F. It felt weird not riding in the dark with lights, and I kind of missed the solitude and darkness of the early morning ride.
I did take in the sight of the snowy peaks surrounding the valley, which I normally cannot see unless the moon is really bright.

first (revised) commute of the year, my normal commute is 9 miles each way. The first 4.5 are in bike lanes, I'm not that comfortable riding them in the dark. So I now drive the first 4.5 miles to a church to park and then ride the rest of the 4.5 miles on MUP. It was 38* and foggy this morning here in Vancouver WA.
