Warm & dry. 70°F ish this morning. Supposed to be 91 for the ride home. Yipee! Other than the heat, it was pretty nice. I was a little late, so traffic was a little heavier than I'd like. I rode a 31 mile group ride Saturday, and overdid it a little (all of my rides being 11.5 mi is the likely culprit). Today, I could tell that my legs still weren't back to 100%.

My commute this morning was my usual Monday morning one - Airbus 319 from Edinburgh to London then train to office! Only enlivened by a deer being in front of our house at 5 a.m.
Commute back to my digs tonight much nicer, thought the traffic going past Lords cricket ground was quite heavy.

THis morning's temp was 73, felt great, I kind of took it easy today since this weekend I explored a lot of the local University's campus. Just a leisurely cruise to work. Had a few motorists give me the thumbs up, and generally be a lot more courteous than usual this morning. Feels good after my recent experiences.

Not looking fwd to the heat midweek. At least this AM was cool and dry enough. Nice to have the coolest day of the week as my birthday treat! ;-) Had a good commute in. Looking forward to theg ride home, too.
Won't have time to ride my age today, but I plan on doing it Saturday plus a few extra miles to grow on.

I had a great commute from a weather and speed standpoint, but I have to admit I felt like I made a couple of rash and unwise decisions in terms of passing other cyclists, getting ahead of the lights and lane positioning. Among the causes are my lost rear view mirror, but I also think my head wasn't fully in the game.
My ride home tonight will be largely MUP, but I intend to be extra attentive if only to ensure that I can.

I had my first official commute today when I took my Trek 7.1 FX to work. I leave at 5:30 in the morning so I pretty much have the road to myself, and it's only a 2.5 mile ride so it's only a 15 minutes to get to work. It did take me about 20 minutes to get back home though because of traffic.

I was waiting in the left turn lane at a red light, and a car came up and ran the red light at speed (right turn on red). The car behind it was a police car, but I think they were just far enough back that they didn't see it. At least that's what I hope. This was the intersection where my daughter was hit by someone turning right on red. Fortunately, that car wasn't going as fast.

Here in NYC, it was a warm morning, around 70 with sun. I had to walk around the block a few times to cool off. Going home was warm, but I could feel it cool down as I rode south through Brooklyn getting closer to the shore.
Tomorrow will be 85 and Wednesday and Thursday will be 95+. I think it is back to the subway where at least the trains are cool, if not the platforms.

As usual, big hill right out of the driveway, but it was low 60's this am with not much traffic.....9 easy miles after that initial hill. Coming home was HUMID and in the 90s. Headwind (ugh) except for when taking sideroads to avoid traffic and the climbing of the last major hill where breeze was cut off by trees..."just when I needed you most" to quote Randy Vanwarmer. Still, it was more fun than walking at the track. Only chased by one yapping little mutt. A good day for a "less fat then he was" guy in his mid-fifties. Pedal on.......

First full distance ride in to work in a long time. Cool for Atlanta summers and since it was from 5 AM to 6 AM, I just about had the roads to myself. I *did* count about 5 other cyclists on the 9.25 mi journey (which took my just shy of an hour).
Now to rehydrate and get dressed for work.
I probably won't attempt the same thing on the way home, tho.

It was an easy ride in at 62 F (17C). Saw a new walker, albeit 2 or 3 days a week. Saw a dog walker, but was not sure if she was the one that I usually pass in the dark, or someone of the other 3 dog walkers on that street who I pass in the dark. With two months of light I get to see everything, I normally just pass.

Yet another nice day. Sunny, 59F/15C, light wind off Lake Champlain. I saw... Well... Either it was a muskrat or a small beaver on a log. Hard to tell from where I was. Lots of squirrels out today, too.
Somebody on a roadbike commuter rig came out on the MUP a ways ahead of me, and I wasn't reeling him in like I usually do, so I revved up and hung in the low 20MPH range. Took me about 1.5 miles to catch him! Once in a while I get one who's quicker than the average Muppet.

Ugh. Nice enough weather and the legs felt good but two detractors this morning.....
*Commuter passed me on the right on the MUP--I had moved left to avoid a piece of 20' long piece of failing trail that everyone rides around, but apparently not this guy because he was right on my right hip when I went to move back right....you can't wait 20' to pass me???? and he wasn't on my left shoulder when I moved left....
*Cop (motorcycle) chewed me out as I was turning into work for turning left from the traffic lane and not the bike lane. I had also moved into the traffic lane to go around a sloooooow bike in the bike lane (it's uphill) and the cop saw that and gunned it up behind me to yell at me, even though I signaled both my pass and my turn and if he would've been behind me a block earlier he would've seen three bikes blow past me while I waited for the red light to change....... guess it's time to figure out Philly bike laws since what I did is legal in other places I've ridden and that's a turn I make every day....

Not sure about your local laws, but Texas allows use of left turn lanes by cyclists.
Ride in started cool, but as soon as the sun peeked up it was warm and humid. Should be close to 100 for the ride home. Ugh.

Excellent this morning at 82 degrees! My legs loved it. But, a record 100 with high humidity this afternoon is the price to pay. Riding bike in those conditions sure beats sitting at a beach! :-)

Nice and cool, 48F and beautiful clear sky on the ride in. It's supposed to hit 70 today. Sweet.
I'll be relishing days like this when the temps go over 100 soon enough.
Thankfully we don't have humidity here

Bikes: At one point it was a Trek 700 something. Now it have Velocity Psycho wheels, a tape job. Thumb shifters (Shimano Deore). Corncob grouping, and drop bar ends all wrapped up in tape.
Very nice. Cool, dry, nice tailwind. Until some rednecks buzzed and screamed at me. Only thing I caught was "*******" at the end.
