Therapeutic, but not therapeutic enough. I got angry with someone last night, and unfortunately, I still feel angry this morning. I try not to get angry with people for only being themselves...I mean, I know what to expect from him. I know better than to try and change anyone. I don't want him to change. But I still get angry, and I wish I was better about that.

Sorry, not really commute related, but I am sad and frustrated with myself right now.

But the ride was really, really lovely this morning. I love that hills (which I know are molehill-ish compared to the mountains some of you ride) are getting visibly (in that I can see I am in two to three gears higher than I was when I started!) easier for me. I am starting to actually like them, dammit.

i am done using the car for the day so now i am going to bike into the office...yippee

This morning was my first commute under the rain, and it was amazing! But i have no fenders, so I was pretty dirty, good thing we have a shower here!

Had to be at a different site this morning, so my ride was a bit longer. I also got to ride across town back to my normal site afterwards. A day with extra riding is a good day.

I had a phone interview run long, right before I was supposed to leave for work. I was flyng on the way in! Second phhone interview should go at lunch...

Got a real early start this morning, cool with a brisk tang to the air. Ran across a guy I have seen commute before and rode in together and shot the ****. Nice because I would've taken it faster and had a leisurely ride in. Parked on the "new" "temporary" rack that facilities management put up because one of the facilities guys got pissed with the increasing number of bike commuters locking up to the rail. The "temp" rack consists of holes drilled through a guardrail and bolts fastening a rail to the guardrail in the back of the building. When I told them that any idiot with a socket wrench could have that off in a couple of minutes, the answer I got back was "We're here and can see it." Yeah, right. Parked there anyway, right next to a Cannondale with chopped bars and the cycle computer still on it. Donated blood at the blood drive, hope it doesn't slow my commute home performance, maybe I'll stop by REI on the way home to pick up those Canari shorts I ordered.

Nice commute today. Cloudy, warm, and humid. The air was fresh after an early morning thunderstorm.

It's been perfect weather for riding here too. Rode my newly refurbished Univega road bike yesterday, noted some adhustments I would like to make and that the saddle no longer suits the bke now the I ditched the drops. On my way home at 1am I hear a pop and my rear wheel goes all taco. I think it's time to replace given that I already noticed a bent axle.

Back to work 9am this morning on my other bike, running about 10 minutes late but still taking it easy and this guy in a large pickup pulls up beside me and without even looking my direction says "get the new Cannondale" or something that sounds like that. Then I get a flat, glass. Change the tube in like 10 minutes, which is good for me. These tires are shot. Get to work and nobody even realizes I'm late. Then I spill coffee on my shirt.

therentedmule, I bet that Old Univega rides great when the wheels hold up.

I commute 15 miles (one way) from home into downtown Denver on my trusty Bridgestone Kabuki single speed.

That classic steel rides like a dream!

At my work, we got this rack outside the building just off the sidewalk.
Last year some guy(s) showed up with a truck, unbolted the rack and took the entire thing...

Rides yesterday were pretty darn great! Had some cooler weather roll through on Tuesday afternoon, so temps were down a bit, and the wind was much calmer. Even gave me a slight push on the way home, instead of the usual afternoon kick in the teeth... very nice!

Done commuting for the week - dw is out of town getting some r&r for a few days, so I'm doing my semi-annual "Mr. Mom" gig. Back at it next week. May try to trailer the kids around some tomorrow to get some saddle time and burn some calories... I eat too much...

Okay ride this morning. Bit of a head wind. Temps in the 50sF. I caught a couple riding together. She was on an interesting-looking 'bent trike (two wheels in back, one in front) and he was on a mountain bike.

Yikes. The "rack" they have in front is one of those circa 1960s portable ones chained to a rail, much like the one I was originally locking up to.

Stopped at the LBS on the way home last night to buy a new helmet. The old Ghisallo is starting to delaminate and I get a pretty good team deal on a new Bell Sweep R, so it was a no brainer. I like the Sweep R. Similar to the Ghisallo but it seems to be a bit lighter and lower profile. Nice.

Chamber of commerce weather this morning.

Nice enough this morning, forewent the coat. W/ 6 yr old going to neighbor's house just around the corner for the morning, by the time I was done dropping him off, my wife turned up pulling the 3 yr old in the trailer to her daycare. So I went downtown w/ them and then back toward work w/ my wife (she works along the same route as me, 1 mile closer to home). Nice ride. Slowish but of course a little more peaceful that way.

Great weather in the NE this week - 60 in the morning and 70 by days end. I take the long way home and see all kinds of things. Rabbits, chipmunks,snakes, turtles - love it - don't see those things driving by.

Today was cool but humid. I rode with a friend of mine that I see on the trail frequently. Our previous three rides together this week were hammer fests. Yesterday we had a tailwind and took 5 minutes off of our usual. Even with the slower pace this morning I'm cramping. Not good.

Saw a fox yesterday morning right on the trail. Passed within two feet of him and he didn't even flinch. On another note, my next job will be goose herder. I'm getting pretty good at getting them off the trail.

hung-over, why did I have to have 'just one more'?! I know better than that, I usually consider my morning ride - but not last night...

Weather has cooled off, low 50's, so it's a refreshing ride and fun as always.

Well it was not today but yesterday on my commute into work along the Bowmont park pathway in Calgary I came 5 feet from smacking into a Moose. Yep a Moose. Not the thing you want to see at 7:30 am, come out of the brush on to the path...scared the poop outa me.

The funny thing was I was muttering right be before I had to lay down my bike, about how bad the off leash dogs are in the park in the morning and how annoying it is when they jump up at you from places you dont expect them to.

Anyway good to see wildlife, scary to see a big o'l swamp donky in the city.

Two days in a row, great weather, cool in the 60's and low humidity. A few weeks ago people were dying from the heat.

Well then, jeez, clearly you don't need to lock your bike at all! Just leave it back there because if someone tries to take it, they're "here and can see it."

Uneventful ride today.

a little tired yesterday going home - donated blood earlier so I think that had something to do with it.

Full Moon yesterday = crazies.

Where do I start? Was in the far left lane of busy one-way street. I was about 1/3 past an articulated bus on my right when he decided to move left into my lane (I know he saw me, he looked directly at me in his large mirror) forcing me to brake quickly to get out of the way. I did manage to give the finger as he was looking at me, and I normally don't do that. Then he executes a last-second left turn (ah! So he wasn't paying attention and didn't give himself room to lane change early on - that's the ticket) and I move to the right side of my lane and do a head check over my right shoulder to see if the lane is clear to move around bus. At the same time I hear engine revs and a car (a Prius? Toyota something?) zooms past me and honks at ME. Driver rolls down her window and yells something at me (she's obviously p.o.'d). Color me incredulous b/c she obviously saw the bus cut me off. As I rode past her (the bus turned and light was turning yellow) I just said "I didn't even get into your lane!" And waved and smiled as I left her at the intersection. I should have stopped and discussed it with her in retrospect and I think this is my second encounter with her and her unrolled window. Can't wait till it happens again and see what she has to say.

Then, I almost get rear-ended by another bicyclist at a stopsign at a busy intersection - cars stopped in all directions, I stopped just behind a vehicle and was waiting my turn. I heard rubber scuffing and heavy bike braking. Um, dude, I'm not going to run this BUSY intersection.

Then it was the last day of H.S. so lots of kids out cruising fast and furious.
