It's not a race, but I beat that guy on the mtb/bmx hybrid again.

Stopped at the dentist for a replacement filling on my way to work this morning. My closest friend here at work told me he saw me pulling out of the parking ot after my appt. Of course I asked him, "Did I look good?"

Uneventful commute the rest of the way. Supposed to be b-e-a-u-tiful weather here this afternoon with a high around 74F.

Would have been a great day for a ride, but had a flat car tire last night (on I-40! a NAIL!) and have to get that taken care of during the day today. Can't do both this time.

First commute of the season today. It was mid-30's and 20mph wind. Not too bad for the middle of March. The potholes were a little bit of nuisance.

First commute of the year for me as well. I feel awful for taking so much time off during the winter but I just had so much going on and am in need of a real front headlight (on my list for the fall so I can commute year round). Had a nice ride in, temp in the upper 20s, no wind and traffic was nice to me. My commuter bike was autoshifting out of 1st 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. Got that fixed when I got to work since I have some killer hills on the way home tonight.

wife dropped me off this morning with the bike - will be biking home tonight around 10pm or so. Hopefully the 74 degree weather this afternoon will translate to a warmer commute this evening.

The new route I tried yesterday was great - more off the road and through some communities - much more enjoyable ride!

Wow! What a great day to ride. This morning was the best in a long time. Still had some of the winter gear on but I made good time ridin' into work. I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want to stop. This afternoon was Spin city. No gloves, no balaclava, just a light jacket(my does-it-all Showers Pass rain jacket), my regular tights. It felt great. People were smilin' at me with that look on their faces that they wish they could be out ridin' a bike today. Temps were at a glorius 62f or so. And the bike was moving on the road tires. After spending a week on the Snow studs. Took the bikepath from Antrim up to Worthington. Had it all to myself. After today, I don't care what the weather does the rest of the week. Yesterday I flipped the odometer over 1000 miles

Windy and warm. Almost too warm. Legs feel good, though. Looking forward to the weekend.

40 degree's and very very hot I'm starting to dislike it..... more water bottles needed i think

First commute this year, first day of the new Chicago bike safety ordinance. Felt great to ride, but when are they going to fix these potholes?

Commute was uneventful. But I got out of work late tonight so it was dark by the time I made it home. Decided to go by the grocery store to buy kitty food and treats for myself.

I totally ran a red light at a busy intersection.

But it was by accident and I totally motored out of that intersection.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I said "oh ****s!" on that trip twice. Once when i ran the red, and once when I drove over a seemingly innocent puddle which turned out to be a pothole.

Kids, don't try this at home.

commute in was pretty nice... commute home was great too except for the wind.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day to ride here in NYC and an even better one to go for test rides. I tried out the Orbea Onix TDA, a Cannondale Six 13 and a Cannondale Synapse now I have to decide which one to get.

After getting flats the on the rear tire the last couple of commutes, I'm in full flat-paranoia mode where every time the headwind pick up, or going uphill and feeling some drag makes one think "not again".

Nevertheless, the commute was nice and quick, in large part due to the weather being in the 40's, which is much, MUCH nicer for riding than weather in the 30's.

Got lost. 15 extra miles lost.

Positively delightful, that's how it was! 42F/~5C with only the lightest of occasional breezes--the kind of cool morning that encourages one to activity...

First morning in many weeks where I wasn't wearing wool (save for some new lightweight Smartwool socks I'm trying out). I believe I can tough this out.

Warmest day of the year so far yesterday (75F), but I had to drive. Back in the saddle today, and it's supposed to be just as warm. All my supplies were stocked up at the office, so I rode one of my faster bikes rather than my commuter. It's always a challenge fitting everything in the smaller seat bag, but I did it. The morning ride was so smooth and fast that it felt easy, even with a headwind much of the way.

Another b-e-a-u-tiful day to ride today after 74F yesterday. 52 this morning when I left the house and very little traffic (relative to normal). I think a lot of folks here in the Park work from home on Fridays because there never seems to be as much traffic.

roadiejorge, get the Synapse I've taken them out for several test-rides and love 'em but the wife flat refuses to let me get another bike.

Nice ride today, just about freezing, with a nice sunrise. A few patches of ice argue for keeping the studs on a little while longer. Crushed limestone trail frozen this morning so not bad. Wed. ride home the trail was unrideable, 2-4 inches of muck, had to walk about 1/4 mile. Not looking forward to return trip later. No symphathy from either fellow workers or family.

Jury is still out on my new drops. Seems kinda strange not having my hands on the brakes all the time. On the other hand, I'm cruising at about 16 on the snow tires, a good 2 mph faster then expected.

I'm convinced that tires just loose their puncture resistance over the winter. Every spring I get a rash of flats, till I spring for new tires.

Yesterday afternoon I was going on home uphill against the wind and then today fat snowflakess and slush...

The thing I hate about this time of year is that the mornings are cold, 30 or so, but the afternoons are warming to the 40s and 50s. That means I have to bring cold weather gear in the morning, but I dont need half of it at night. Grumble.
Regardless, was a beautiful morning for biking. 35 or so, clear, light traffic. Found one black ice spot but didn't fall *whew*
(Unlike the other day where I missed about a dozen, then slipped on ice when locking up the bike).


That's not called lost.

Quick shot of freezing rain about 1/2 hour before I left the house.

It wasn't until I locked the front at the stop sign at the end of my street that I realized it was still quite slippery!

Fortunately main roads were clear, although I did see one crashed car en route (and oddly enough, zero crashed bicycles).

Finishing my first complete week of bike commuting, should total about 75 miles for the week!
Had an encounter with a polite cager... came up to a stop light and noticed a nice burgundy Mercedes with right turn indicator.. I pulled up even with the B pillar, going to give him room to turn in front of me...tinted windows-but I could see man checking traffic, then checking me out.. after a few seconds, the passenger window rolled down and he said, "Be careful, I'm going to turn right.." I replied "I know, I am watching.. thank you for being careful.." It was nice to see somebody watching out for us..

great ride last night - left about 11pm - I think 5 cars passed me.

Great ride again this morning - been loving the weather down here. Think I'm going to stick with the new route - like it a lot better. Thanks tarwheel!
