Great ride in this morning! One of the best in recent memory. 42°F, damp, and with a low cloud deck. I was perfectly comfortable in shirts and a couple tee shirts, one with long sleeves. Just about ideal...
My planning class last night was awesome...let's just say that perfectly legitimate class-related exercises meant two classmates and I got to go for a four mile bike ride! Who's gonna complain about that? ;-)

Sucked. On the way home I lost my starboard pannier AND my keys. Fortunately I had the garage door opener and I dumped the other pannier and back tracked and even took the car and the maglight. Didn't find either the lost pannier OR the keys. So I lost a house, office, and mailbox keys but fortunately not the car keys which I left at home. In my lost pannier was my nice pump, tire levers, spare tube, patch kit, reflective vest and rain pants. Needless to say I'm a bad mood right now.

Sorry to hear about that Nelson.
I dodged a few bullets today (rain-wise) since there were some strong showers during the day but by shear luck I managed to avoid them. The temperature was a comfortable 16c (61f) and although I managed to stay dry, the bike and my pant-legs where covered in a sand-ish colored mud (today there was a southerly wind which brings fine particles of sand from North Africa which come down as mud when raining).

I don't want to complain about the rain too much, but ducks were swimming across my bike path this morning and afternoon

Sunny ride in but the ride home was a snowy mix that turned to sleeting rain. Got home warm and dry in my rain gear and, once again, beat the change from puddles to black ice as the temperature dropped.

Tough break, Nelson. I forgot to close the straps on my Carradice bag one day and lost my wallet, eyeglasses and other gear on my ride home. I realized what I had done about halfway home and backtracked all the way to my office. On the second return trip, I found several cards from my wallet scattered along the side of a very busy road, so that apparently is where the stuff fell out, but didn't find my glasses or wallet. When I got home, I immediately called my credit card companies, and someone had already charged $500 worth of electronics equipment on my VISA card -- all within about about 1 hour of when the stuff fell out. I double-check my seatbags now.

Back in the saddle after missing yesterday which, raining all day turned into an annoying messy drive with nutjobs disrupting traffic with random pointless maneuvers. I guess it turned out for the best though since I had a business lunch come up unexpectedly and could show up fresh and dry, looking almost professional. To the extent that I ever do anyway.
Today by contrast was a pleasant ride, clearing up and warm enough for just a tri jersey and jeans. It should be even nicer going home.

It was a cold morning here. 19 degrees with a steady breeze. Lots of icy patches but hardly any traffic at 5:30am. Did my six miles into work in about 20 mins. Not supposed to break 27 degrees today so im fixing for another cold ride home!

Blub blub blub. Several portions of the Olentangy path in Columbus, Ohio were well under water this morning. Geese were swimming to get out of my way. One section south of Third Street was knee deep. I know this because, damn the torpedos, I rode through it because I hate the idea of backtracking. That was cold
(it was about 36F out there)!

Rain on the way in this morning, but temps were great at around 60 F. Ride home promises to be windy (20mph+) and colder, but at least dry. Hope my riding gear dries with the fan in the locker room by the time I leave this afternoon. I need to find some fenders that will fit the road bike.

24F, frosty. Yesterday I found my preferred route was not usable due to treefalls, today I found my shortest-straightest route has the same problem. Monday I will be able to cobble together a route that has the length of the one and the traffic volume of the other, kind of the worst of both worlds, except I won't need to carry my bike or wade through frozen mud.
Yesterday was also my 7 yr old's 1st day on the bike in almost 2 wks. She completely forgot about her handbrakes (new to her in the last month or so) and shot into an intersection at a 4-way stop (from the sidewalk) and T-boned a car that was waiting at the stop sign. No harm, no foul, whew. We did braking practice in the bus loop when I picked her up after school.
And finally, somebody (maybe the same person who stole the flashlights off my kids' handlebars during the school day a couple wks ago?) stole the tail blinky off my 10 yr old's bike. My daughter's bike looked like its tail light had been grabbed, but it was still there. Will see this afternoon, I guess, if it's still there today. Did not replace my son's light, he's mostly commuting in daylight anyway.
For the headlights (my daughter needs one I don't pick her up until well after sunset), I put other flashlights onto their helmets, that come into the school with them, using those 2fish lockblock thingies.

It's been awhile since I rode in; we've had a lot of rain here lately. I don't mind cold, but I don't do rain---just not hardcore enough.
Ride in was great. It's only 1030 and I'm already wanting to get back on the road to go home. Fridays always seem to drag by.

Thanks. It was my wife with her in the morning so I didn't see it which was good for me (and bad for her). But I definitely gave her a solid braking practice workout after school, and again the rest of the way home.

Forecast was of a little this morning. Even when I left home the forecast was for scattered light shower and the radar confirmed to the forecast. While making a quick stop to pick up breakfast, I heard a crack of thunder, and the skies opened up. It was pouring cats and dogs for the few blocks I had left to get to my office, and man did I get soaked! Caught out unexpecting of the conditions.I was only wearing shorts and a tee shirt since it was almost 60°. Shirt's hanging to dry with a fan blowing on it.
Should be a windy ride home, though by the looks of the forecast (dare I believe it again?) the wind should be at least partially at my back much of the way.

Nice ride in this morning, it was nearly 60F. I wore shorts, a short sleeved shirt and, my rain jacket and, luckily, missed the worst of the rain-I heard it was a real downpour. Just switched to a great, new backpack and am loving it. It's a Jansport Odyssey 39 and is: comfortable, very roomy, water proof, well-built with great features. Since my last Jansport (which is currently being used by my wife) has 20 years under it's belt, I expect this to be just as durable. Also, changed brake pads the other night so, the increased braking power is really nice, especially in the rain.

The commutes last weekend wore me out.
The ride in tonight wasn't bad. Cool, not cold. Nice, clear sky. The worst part was the sun shining straight in my eyes.

I only rode to work three days this week. By the Tuesday afternoon ride home, a light rain was already falling, and I settled for driving to work the next two days as the heavy rain caused flooding. I rode to work today and fought a stout south wind on the ride home.
Last Sunday, my wife and I climbed onto the tandem for the first time in over two years, and rode just over 19 miles. I'm hoping to do a lot more miles on the tandem once my work commuting days are done.
2012 days ridden to work: 11
2012 commuting mileage: 269.5
