2,000 miles and counting
Today was a great day. I hit the 2,000 mile mark in just commuting to work and around town for errands. This is a big thing for me since I just got into riding last July.
I am truly humbled by how everyone here commutes. I know when I hit the road, that I am not alone. That others get ready and commute in and out of work and such.
Everyone here has been so helpful in my journey so far. And for that, I am so greatful.
Commuting has meant so much for me. Its not just about saving money on gas and car repair but it's the things like giving me a clear head, a way to vent, a way to be happy, a way to see places and things. A way to get in touch with myself. Its peace of mind, yet challenging. Every type of commuting, rain, sun, thunder storms, commuting in urban areas, commuting is rural areas, getting lost, finding my way, buying groceries or getting fruit. Commuting in the city has been wonderful too. Night life versus day versus early morning. I love it.
Thanks to you all who continue to ride and commute and thanks to everyone who has helped me.
2,000 miles which is roughly 91 times of commuting to work and back. I love it.
Now THAT feels great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! I think that's more total commuting mileage than I have. It's on!

All the chefs where I work have kitchens just like it. I love it. A whole kitchen to myself!..... most of the time!
I love the mtn bike too. Thought it is not the best for touring. But it works great for commuting and errands!

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think flat bar bikes have several advantages ... as does running small panniers on the front only rather than the rear (not that you do that) ... therefore I think a solid-forked flat-bar MTB is the perfect choice for a year-round bike ... so

I love mt mtn bike for commuting. Though it is a great bike, I have found it is not the best bike for touring. I recently have done some longer rides on it (40 or so miles) and it is a rough go.

Front panniers eh? What advantages versus rear ones? I am curious on this since I am thinking of a touring bike.

It also depends on the surface your riding, as I have little interest in sharing my riding space with autos, therefore, my surfaces tend to be more varied and rougher, on the whole.

Keep up the good work. Bike commuting is addictive. I started 5-1/2 years ago and have nearly reached the 20,000 mile point -- less than 100 miles to go!
