Had the panaracer urban max for a few sets then went to Schwable marathons for this latest round. Both were 700x32c. Would recommend them both. Schwables are probably a little more flat resistant and maybe last a little longer but they are also about double the price so I'm not totally sure they are worth it over the urban max. Bike originally came with 700x28c and I didn't notice much difference in rolling resistance going up to 32 but the ride improved immensely.

Thats probably because wider tires have less rolling resistance than narrow ones, all other things being equal. Of course, all other things are usually not equal, and rolling resistance is only a small part of the total drag on a bike once you are at speed, but simply switching to wider tires will almost definitely not significantly increase rolling resistance.

From https://www.schwalbetires.com/tech_in...ing_resistance:
Why do wide tires roll better than narrow ones?
The answer to this question lies in tire deflection. Each tire is flattened a little under load. This creates a flat contact area.
At the same tire pressure, a wide and a narrow tire have the same contact area. A wide tire is flattened over its width whereas a narrow tire has a slimmer but longer contact area.
The flattened area can be considered as a counterweight to tire rotation. Because of the longer flattened area of the narrow tire, the wheel loses more of its "roundness" and produces more deformation during rotation. However, in the wide tire, the radial length of the flattened area is shorter, making the tire "rounder" and so it rolls better.

finally received my tires. Tire Panacer stradius sport was packed very tightly and now have very flat shape (especially when I hold it vertically). Is this normal or I should send it back?
Cannot try it yet, as the shop sent me wrong tubes (18-23c width). Pictures are attached.
I made photos next day after unpacking.

Were the tires in their original packaging? If so, most folding tires come packed flat from the factory so I wouldn't worry about it.

Panacer stradius sport was packed very similar as the tire in your picture. Here is the packaging:

I don't think it is a fake. Just it might be stored in such a flat packing for too long time and got stretched. I never had folding tire. Is it normal that it does not restore U-shape even after a day?

Currently its cross-section looks like this bracket '(' and it is a 26c tire.

Here's another vote for the Vittoria Rubino Pros - I have them on both my road-bikes; they're hard-wearing, I can't remember ever having any flats, and they're oh so quiet, especially on the rollers!

Put a tube in it and fill 'er with air. It'll regain its shape pretty quickly.

correct

there is nothing to be concerned about with those new tires
folding tires have nothing to give them any shape until they are mounted on a rim and have a tube installed and inflated
unlike wire bead tires that have a rigid hoop of wire holding them in a circle
install those panaracer tires and ride like hell

now I understand the difference between wire bead and folding tire thanks everybody for help!
another question: the shop sent me 18-23c tubes of instead 25-32mm tires I ordered. It will probably take a while to resolve this.

Can I use 18-23c tube for Panacer stradius sport 26c or I should wait for replacement?

BTW, does anybody need any of these tubes:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
or
https://www.amazon.com/Michelin-Road-...tra+light+tube

I have 2 pair of each of them, completely new, in the package.
If you take all 4, I will give it for 50%+shipping (within US).

That tube should be fine.

Bikes: It's the motor, not the bike, right?

Performance Bike makes some good and very inexpensive tires in a range of sizes. I've used the Strada-K and Gotham 700c tires on a couple of different commuter bikes with no problems and good flat protection. If you find them on sale you can get them for around $13 per tire.
